Stella woke up a few days later. She had a big smile on her face.
Drake had a cup of ice cream. He spoon fed it to her.
She licked a drop off of his finger. He said,"Easy warrior princess, go slow now."
It hurt him to see her so thin. He could tell by looking into her eyes that she was having no pain. They were glassy looking.
Cash was in the bed next to her, he made sure they medicated her around the clock.
He was fit enough to go home, but refused to leave her side.
Drake handed a spoon to Cash.
" I got one for you too big guy." He smiled and handed him a chocolate one.
" Thanks, I'll be fat in no time." He took a big bite. "Oh, very good. You are my favorite brother."
The funny thing about starvation, you don't think you will ever eat again. You don't take it for granted.
