Cash saw two people laying on the floor of the jet plane lifeless, it was the flight crew.
The cockpit door was open, Cash ran inside. He saw the pilot and copilot were both slumped over.
He grabbed the radio.
" Mayday, mayday, mayday." He yelled into the radio.
The mechanic in him helped him to assess the plane control panel. It was decending very quickly. He pulled back on the yoke.
The jet began to level out. Cash looked around for the automatic pilot. He grabbed the oxygen from the ceiling and breathed into it.
He felt the pilot for a pulse. There was no pulse.
He ran back to Stella. She was lying on the ground. He picked her up and carried her to the seat. He placed the oxygen back on her face.
Cash rummaged through the emergency equipment. He located a parachute and a few supplies that he blindly shoved into his pockets.
Thinking quickly, he put the parachute on and looked for a way out.
There was no way to open the door, the plane was flying too fast, too high.
It was an older Condor style plane, he knew he couldn't go out the passenger door, they would get sucked into the engine.
Cash located a cargo door. He went back to Stella.
She was breathing. He woke her up. " Were getting off we have to go now." She began to shake and cough. She looked into his eyes and nodded.
The plane was making all sorts of noise, rumbling like a freight train.
Cash grabbed Stella. He fastened her to him, in front of him very tightly with a seat belt extension.
She had a small waist it fit well around both of them. She looked down and pulled it tight.
" We live or die together,"she said.
He kissed her and nodded, "Let's go!" He yelled over the noise and smoke.
The plane dipped down again. They fell forward. Cash used his thick thighs to carry Stella forward up at an angle.
He used all of his strength and opened that door, the wind swept them out and sucked them into the air. The plane sped down away from them.
Cash was on his back flying down to the water with Stella attached to his body in front.
She closed her eyes as the wind whipped her hair all around.
Cash's face was being blown by the wind, they couldn't speak they were falling so fast.
Cash pulled the rip cord and the parachute suddenly caught wind and snapped them back from free falling.
Cash looked down and all around, he knew they were getting wet soon.
He saw a patch of green. It was a green blip on the horizon.
He tried to steer them towards this.
Stella was screaming. She was so affraid.
Cash yelled,"Hold on to me, don't let me go!"
They flew straight towards that green bit of land. The water seemed to rise up to meet them.
Stella felt like she was slapped in the face as she hit the water. Cash was right behind her.
Stella's seat belt suddenly detached from Cash who was pulled back by the parachute holding him.
She was free.
Stella went under the water, she held her breath as the waves washed over her head. She swam up, up, up to the surface.
Cash was about 100 yards from her.
They both heard the sound of the airplane hitting the water, crashing.
Stella swam to Cash. He couldn't move with the parachute pulling him back.
Stella unclipped him as his head bobbed up and down.
" I don't, I don't swim well!" He yelled as water washed over his head. He was coughing and spitting out sea water.
" I do, let me help." She assured him. "Don't think about it, just look at me!"
Stella held Cash in front of her as she swam on her back, moving them towards the small green island.
She kicked her feet and gave Cash instructions to do the same.
It took them an hour, fighting the surf as it pushed them in and out with the tide.
Finally they hit the rocky shore.
Stella lay on the stretch of sand just past the sharp rocks right next to Cash's flaccid body.
She smiled. " Well, we got here. We made it this far, we got this, I don't think we survived that plane crash for us to die here."
She was exhausted and breathing heavy.
Cash lay there breathing. He knew they had to get dried off. He would get up in a minute. He told himself.
" What happened to the plane?" She wondered.
" I don't know, but everyone else died. What made you wake up?" He asked Stella.
"A dream."She said.
" I was riding Marshmellow, she was bucking me off, the woods were thick with smoke." I jerked awake.
" That dream saved us. The smoke was getting so thick. It must have been an engine failing or exploding, I guess we will never know." Cash said still breathless.
" Okay let's go explore, see what we can find to make a signal fire, they will be coming for us.
I did send out a mayday call before we left. Stella what do you have in your pockets?"
" Oh, some gum. It's pretty wet. I have my phone. But.. looks dead now." She hit it as water drained out of the protective case. " Low battery." She frowned.
" I think, I'm not sure. I think we are on a small island near the Everglades." He said.
I saw a flight map on the control panel, we were near Florida.
"Let's get our clothes off and try to get them dried off, it may be cold at night." Cash said as he stripped naked.
They placed their wet clothing on branches to dry in the ocean breeze.
Stella smiled. " Well, you look stunning as usual."
Cash pulled her into his thick arms. " We are alive and we are together."
Stella looked at her leg. It was good. No redness, no swelling.
" Okay let's go get some water."She said.
" How we going to do that?" He asked.
" These plants live on freshwater. Cash, I have watched every survival show that discovery has to offer. Right now, its naked but not affraid." She rubbed his arm.
" Cash, on second thought, I'm gonna rest a minute. You are going to dig near some high land plants. Look for water under the soil.
I'm going after that parachute, I see it right there beyond the surf. We will use it as our shelter, we can also use it to collect water."
He frowned. " Okay but if you get tired, come right back please." He trusted her swimming abilities.
He pulled out a distress whistle, a flint and a foil blanket from a small kit he stuffed into his pocket when he grabbed the parachute.
He also had a very small Swiss army knife, a souvenir from their time in Switzerland.
Stella smiled. "You were a damn boy scout went you?"
He nodded and recited the scout code raising two fingers up.
