The girls chattered amongst each other as Abel and Noah trailed from the front. I followed them at a distance, my mind still scrambled over Abel. I didn't know why I cared so much but I always found my thoughts lingering back to him.
“Over there," Sarai called out, pointing ahead. I followed her outstretched hand, spotting a tree that had collapsed. I noticed fabric poking out through the clumps of leaves and branches. I squinted, focusing my eyes as I noticed it wasn't just fabric, it was a body.
They ran ahead, leaving me behind to check it out. I scrunched my nose, smelling the familiar bitter stench of blood. It wasn't just anyone's blood though. It was vampire blood.
They must have realized too because all their heads rolled around to stare at me as I approached hesitantly.
