Chapter 6 Jack’s was closed that morning, so Danny made Clara a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast, then packed them in Tupperware for the drive to the post office. He stopped by her house first, knocked, and when no one answered, went inside to find Grim. He thought Grim had a right to be there when he told Clara about the girl, but his little brother was not home, so he moved on. He saw Clay on the way, and had to fight the urge to give him hell about last night’s trouble in the Salvage Yard. Clara must have been watching for him.
