Chapter Nineteen
The floor beneath him trembled as Robbie dropped to his knees, his entire body enflamed. The blistering pain crippled him, and as he cried out, the marble steps of the staircase cracked asunder.
“Robbie!”
He lifted his head just enough to peer down the crumbling staircase. Colt leapt into the air, springing halfway up the staircase, finding purchase with one foot just long enough to propel himself forward. He landed beside Robbie, crouched, and wrapped his arm around him.
“What are you doing? I told you to stay in the bedroom!”
