 Xavier’s pov   I wasn’t one hundred percent sure that bringing Emily to that meeting was the best thing to do. Strategically? It was. But I was afraid of the toll it might take on her if it didn’t go the way we all hoped. Part of me felt like a schemer, and a heartless man and mate for throwing her into politics and games of power when she’d left her hell not even two weeks before, but I knew it was what she needed.
