Wolf Pride

Sophie (Friday Night, last game before playoffs begin) I was super excited to go on those stands today. Logan was pumped. He had been excited all day over this game, and I completely believe in him. I know he'll take them to victory.  He drove to school wearing his uniform on. We had accidentally fallen asleep for a little too long in my room. Since Coach lets them have a free day of practice when there's a game, we decided to get chinese take-out and go to my house. I had set up a small tent with blankets, kind of how he did for me on our first date.  We watched a movie and ate, afterward we settled on the pillows and fell asleep. If it wasn't for Aaron, my brother, who came in and woke us up, we would be in so much trouble. We probably would of missed the game. We had already made plans to be in my house so he had his stuff in the car already. He showered in my in-suite bathroom and got ready.  He drove us there fast. . . but don't worry! He still obeyed the traffic rules. He knows I get moody when he doesn't.  He parked the car and quickly made his way to my door. He quickly pulled me to him, kissing my lips and picking me up bridal style as we walked to the entrance.  Older couples from our town giggled at his behavior. The ladies would tell him he was being such a gentleman with me.  "Ok baby. I'll see you in there, ok?" He said frantically. His voice gave out his excitement, I was feeling nervous for him. "Ok. Good luck babe." I said with a smile in my face, caressing his cheek.  He smiled and kissed my lips again. "I don't need luck as long as you're with me." He said making me smile.  "Sophie!" Lexie and Troy called out my name making me turn. Logan pulled me tight around my waist and kissed me again, grasping his helmet tight on his hand. "Here. Take my keys and wallet. Take care of them for me. I'll see you later." That's when I realized I had left my stuff, along with his phone and mine in his car. Though I probably won't need it, so I left it alone. I nodded placing them inside the front pocket of his hoodie I was wearing. "Ok. I'll be cheering for you." I called out as he sprinted away. He turned quickly, sprinting backward. "Haven't you always?" He said teasing, making me smile. Troy and Lexie joined me, we walked together inside. Of course, you can guess that they teased me the whole way. I stopped and bought more of the pom-poms from student council along with a beanie since it was getting really cold.  We went inside and took our seats by our house next to where they were going to be coming out.  I won't lie, I used to sit here to make fun of Logan as he came out. We'd have an exchange of bickering and then he'd get pulled by coach to the field while coach laughed at both of us. Now, it was different. . . . I looked forward to seeing him run out there so I can see him play his heart out. He loved that game, and I felt so proud of him. "Hey, Soph?" Troy called out to me as he made his way up with the goods. He had gone down to get us a snack to eat from some of the school groups who were selling food and drinks. We shared nachos and a few bags of candy while we waited for the game to start. The longer we sat, the more eager we became to hear the beat of the drums. The band played hard and made the floor under us vibrate. Soon, a group of students came out with a different banner. It was odd because usually, the banner is only for the opening game. I wondered if it was something maybe the other team was doing.  There's been times when the opposing team will bring out banners trying to intimidate our house. But it just adds to the excitement from our team. "What do you think that is?" Lexie asked. I shrugged my shoulders. I had no idea what was happening.  The announcer started loud and full of excitement himself. He called out the other team first. Their house cheered and played their own music. It was so much fun looking at the whole thing. There were even moments when our mascots battled it out in a dance. Their bear made a bunch of moves and braked danced, but he was no match to our wolf mascot. He was good. He danced like a pro and needless to say, our house began to join in. Howling and cheering for our mascot. It was incredible. I felt so giddy inside. "Hey, gorgeous?" Logan called out from the side. He had climbed up the same spot we had dwelt it out last time he made me bet on our date. I smiled and walked over to him. I cupped his cheek and kissed him. I felt the warmth of his hands around my waist. "Hi," I said with a smile on my face.  "So. You up for another bet? Maybe you'll get lucky and we'll lose this one!" He raised an eyebrow and slanted his face to a side making me chuckle. "No way! Where's your wolf pride, boy? You better get out there and win that game for mama." I said making him chuckle. "Yes ma'am. By the way, can I come over to your place after the game? We can watch the movie we said we were going to watch earlier when we fell asleep?" He said with a smile. I bit my lip and wrinkled my nose. "Mmm? Ok. I'd love that." I said as I placed my hand on his shoulder. "Good." Coach Mitchell blew a whistle at Logan making him turn.  "Hey, Romeo? Get your butt down here. You're stalling us boy." He said as the opposing team had finished their stunt of making their band invade our field to play their music and had their cheerleaders dance. "Got it, coach. Be right there." He said turning and kissing me one last time as he jumped off to meet with the team. Our band started off. But the unexpected happened. Some of our band members took off their uniform jacket and had a white shirt under. They lined up as they continued to play.  Invading our own field, the words read.  'Wolf pride, LHS rocks' it was completely awesome. When the team made their way out, right behind Logan, the boys that had come out with the huge rolled-up banner walked as well. They placed the banner down in front of the table with the boys announcing the game. When the game started, the whole audience cheered. It was seriously epic. Logan and our team played their heart out. It was intense since both teams were really good. Plus the winner was going to advance to the playoffs. ***** "Oh my god, Sophie. We are so close!" T pulled me. He was really excited about the game. There were only five minutes left in the game. The team had the ball, and to top it off, we were tied. 26 to 26.  The next team that scores, was most likely going to the playoffs. Their quarterback launched the ball. The receiver swiftly passed most of our guys and he ran with such ease, I began to bite my nails. 'No!' I whispered. "Oh hell to the no! Someone stop him!" Troy yelled out, grabbing Lexie like a rag doll making her giggle. Sam- one of the runners in our team launched himself at him. He never saw it coming. His eyes were on Carter who was running right on his foot. The guy fell to the floor and dropped the ball. Unfortunately for them, it was their last play.  Nevertheless, they were awarded a kick and scored another digit on their score.  It was our turn, I began to panic, I was so nervous. Their house booed and whined saying it was a dirty move either way. The ref shook it off and mandated the game to continue. "Come on, come on! You got this babe!" I uttered out through gritted teeth. My heart pounded profusely on my chest. I was becoming far too jittery. My legs trembled on their own and my hands felt clammy. We had two minutes left on the clock and to top it off after he had already launched the ball, we were still a number behind on our score and ten yards to go. I was begging the gods and heavens for a miracle. I know how much this game means to Logan.  It was our last play. If we didn't score, we had to turn over the ball. Logan called out the positions, turned his head to the side. Dylan knew his signal. He called out. "Hike!" The ball was launched by the quarterback and Logan held it tight.  He gestured to Dylan and he ran at full speed, past all the commotion of players pushing against each other,  their captain signaling one of his tacklers and defense to get Dylan. He gestured, the ball seemed to have been launched and Dylan ran. Covering his hands tight. This ball isn't going anywhere.  He ran, ran as fast as he could. Swerving over the opposing team as they launched themselves to him and jumped over one.  2 yards to go, and he gets tackled. Their captain raises his hands in victory. . .but our team, including me! Jump with joy and excitement.  Logan had tricked them.  He had only acted as if he had launched the ball to Dylan, but since he was in short distance from him, and too many bodies were pushing on each other, they didn't realize Logan had kept the ball.  Thus, when all their attention had gone to Dylan, Logan took off. But the rest that went after Dylan were too engrossed trying to tackle down their target, they didn't hear another player yelling; urging them to get Logan. Logan held the ball, standing proud past the line, and breathed erratically. He pointed his finger holding the ball towards Dylan with a huge smile and slammed the ball down victoriously. "Yes! That's what I'm talking about baby! I knew you could do it." I yelled, jumping up and down with joy. "Yess!" I smiled and cheered with them, throwing my pom-poms in the air. Lexie and I hugged, jumping up and down with excitement.  The announcer screamed with joy as well. "We're going to the playoffs! Ladies and gentlemen. . . Lakeview High is going to the playoffs. Still the best and undefeated! That's what I'm talking about! Wolf pride baby!"  The team erupted in joy. They all ran and hugged each other. Circling around as they jumped up and down.  The boys came back up to the announcers, now I was thinking the obvious. They probably had a banner in case we won. They always do that! I don't know why it had slipped my mind.  The boys ran, and lifted coach Mitchell off his feet and jumped up ad down as they held him steady.  They unrolled the huge banner, though it was faced the opposite from us.  Logan was number 56, so I knew it was him walking when I saw his jersey. He walked stealthy, dragging his feet a bit. I knew he was tired. He had just played his heart out there, and I couldn't have been happier for him right now. He walked towards the boys that were announcing, and as if they already knew. One of the boys chuckled, grabbed the microphone off the pedestal, and passed it to him. He took off his helmet, wiped his sweat with his jersey, and flipped his hair off his forehead with a smile. His voice echoed, everyone could hear the way he was trying to catch his breath and many were giggling, though they still quieted down after a few seconds. "Good evening everyone." He said as he swallowed hard, his voice echoed through the air. I smiled, and many people responded back to him with a good evening. "I just wanted to say. . . thank you. . . for all the support, and love. . . you guys have shown us, by coming to our games. . . . and making us feel damn proud. . . of playing for you." He said as he continued to catch his breath. "Some of you know,. . . . I have a special lady in my life." My eyes widened in surprise. My face felt hot and I was suddenly, not cold anymore.  A lot of people wooed and whistled making me blush even more. I felt the butterflies in me awakening. "Oh my god Logan?. . . what in the world do you have up that sneaky sleeve of yours?" If you haven't noticed? Logan is unpredictable. And right now, I have no idea what he's doing. "I know that. . . . the most special thing in a relationship for you ladies, is to finally hear those three words. . . " he panted, walking towards the boys with the banner.  My eyes grew wider and I'm pretty sure my smile is now permanent on my face. A lot of girls awed, and the boys, well, we are the Lakeview wolf pack, so they howled away like crazy, including Troy. He chuckled and walked in front of the banner that was about 6 yards long, if not more. "But I'm sad to say, I haven't had the guts to say them. Call me a chicken if you want. . she just has that effect on me. She makes me nervous as hell." He said, placing his free hand on his hip and smiling. He hangs his head and pauses. The crowd giggling and yelling towards him. "Just say it, sweetheart."  Some said. "Oh boy! You gotta lose those nerves son!" An old man yelled out making him laugh. He clears his throat, I can hear my heart in my ears as it thumps loudly. The boys turn slowly and reveal the words he so much says he has been nervous to say. My eyes widen and a stray tear runs down, as I cup my mouth. His voice echoes through as he says the same words written on the banner. "Sophie Pattterson! I love you" he yells out to the mike and everyone cheers. The emotions get the best of me as I run down the stairs, and out to the field. Launching myself in his arms as I make him stumble, taking one step back. I claim his lips and kiss him hard. The crowd cheering us on in the back. But all I can think of is him, those words echoing in my mind. "I love you too jerk!" I say making him chuckle. "I know. I love you more nerd girl!" He says, taking my lips in his and hugging me tightly. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
