Butterflies

Logan The week went by awfully slow for me. Though I still get to see Sophie in class and after school for our project, it wasn't the same for me to say how nervous I was at this point. I'm on my way to pick her up for our first date. Yes, I know, I'm an asshole for tricking her into making her go to a date with me amidst the result of a bet. . . . but, can you blame me? Just look at her, she's gorgeous, and I'm not just talking about her physically! She's beautiful inside and out.  I am sitting in my car, a total nervous wreck right now if I may add. I have never been this nervous about anything in my life. Not even when we have gone up to play for the championship games for our school; and believe me, it gets intense out there.  I was just about to get out of my car to knock on her door when I see her opening the gate and coming out to meet me. I quickly got out of my car and opened the door. She was stunning. She wore a tight long sleeve black shirt and blue jeans, with her hair down that went down to her waist.  I couldn't help but smile, she chuckled and rolled her eyes when I opened the door for her. She always rolls her eyes at me. But I don't mind, you know why? Because it comes together with a smile.  She still looks beautiful to me, even when she's annoyed by me.   I closed the door behind her and went around to my side, opening the door and getting into my seat. I turned on the car and placed it in drive, glancing at her before I took off. She stared at me with her arms crossed like she always does when something is bothering her. "What? Something wrong?" I asked, glancing around towards outside and back towards her. "Logan! put your seat belt on." She replies annoyed, making me chuckle. "Yes ma'am." She puffs her cheeks and nods her head, I turn, grabbing my seat belt and placing it on before she yells at me again. "So, what movie are we watching?" She asks as I drive away.  I know she's expecting me to drive to our local cinema, but I have a different thing in mind set up for her.  "Oh, well, I haven't thought about that. I guess we can decide together when we get there. Is that ok with you?" I say while I pull the car towards the main road where I'm headed and glance towards her. I know she caught on, that we're not headed out towards the cinema, because I can see the concerned look in her eyes. I smile, and she averts her eyes towards the window.  I can see her getting blushed, which by the way, have I told you I love making her fluster? Because it somehow has become one of my favorite things to do in the world. She looks mighty cute with the redness on her cheeks.  Yeah I know, I'm being too mushy for you, but she just makes me want to be the mushy kind around her. I've never done anything romantic for any girl. Not even for Amber, though she was considered my girlfriend for many years. We just never had that type of connection. Amber was too busy partying and trying to gain popularity in her social media profiles to care about the relationship we had. We were more friends than a couple. "Logan, this is not the way towards the cinema. Where are you taking me? Are you planning on killing me already?" She gasps and her eyes widen; she jolts forward making me chuckle. I know she's just being sarcastic, but she's still cute when she acts like this. "No Soph, I'm not going to kill you. . . yet," I say playing along with her, making her chuckle. "Then where are we going? Because this certainly is not the way towards the cinema, and it's not the way towards your house if you were thinking of a Netflix movie. Which honestly I don't mind, as long as you feed me of course." I place my elbow against the door handle, my thumb covering my bottom lip as I smile. I glance at her, I can see she's not as bothered to go out with me as I thought she would be, which I'm honestly glad. I was freaked out thinking she was going to come up with an excuse or something and cancel our date. I'm hoping this is the first of many dates. I want to make the best impression possible on her from this date, maybe it's not what she's expecting, but I certainly hope she's somewhat impressed.  "Well, I guess you're just going to have to wait and see until we get there." She tilts her head, a side smirk on her lips.  I drove down towards a far-end corner of the lake in our town and turned onto a road leading to where I had set up her surprise. Though our town is pretty small, and almost everyone knows each other, there aren't many people that know about this part of the lake I'm taking her to. All the credit to coach Mitchell, of course. This is the spot where he used to bring his wife to camp out together, while they were young.  I stopped the car just far enough so that she wouldn't see the surprise. I got off the car; I can see her glancing suspiciously everywhere, which made me chuckle. I went quickly and opened the door to let her out. I grabbed her hand and stopped before her, accidentally pulling her a little too rough, making her crush against me. My hand curled around her waist automatically, and if my nerves weren't bad enough, they had just gone completely high-wired right now. My heart pounded in my ear as I stared into her beautiful brown eyes. I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't tempted to steal another kiss from her. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how good this date goes. Here's to the hopes that the butterflies in my stomach calm the hell down, so I don't mess this up. ************* Sophie My heart raised at a million per second. The butterflies in my stomach have been going crazy since forever ago today. Each time I see him, each time he talks to me, the butterflies flutter inside of me and will not seize their fluttering inside. I stared into his eyes, even with the moon now in place, the gleam of his green-hazel eyes still made him look so captivating. My lips partially parted, I was completely wordless right now.  God, what is wrong with me?  This is the guy that I have loathed my entire life. I should not be feeling this way for him right now. I should have never agreed to this date. I just know he's probably planning on an evil scheme or something. He's probably going to blindfold me, take me to the middle of nowhere and take off, leaving me stranded here. . . . Well, good thing I have my phone handy and I can call Troy to come and get me, if that's what he's planning. But I can't help to hope that I may be wrong. Is that bad? Please tell me I'm way over my head right now? I want to be able to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he has been such a jerk to me for so many years, that it's hard for me to read him anymore. He's not the same Logan I knew just months back. I could see his Adam's apple going up and down, and involuntarily, I licked my bottom lip. A smile forms in his lips, aligning his pearly whites, with the cool minty breath he always has. " I um, I need you to turn around." He says in a low husky tone, the goosebumps in my body making the hair in the back of my neck stand.  "What? Why?" I respond, widening my eyes and glancing from one of his orbs to the other. He smiles, hanging his head. My waist felt the cold shiver from the absence of his warm embrace. His hand leaves, to retrieve something from his back pocket. He brings his hand forward, revealing a blue handkerchief and signaling with his finger for me to turn around. Though I'm nervous about what he's got up his sleeve, I'm skeptical about what his plan is. I slowly turn around, allowing him to blindfold me and pray for the best as he takes my hand and makes me walk along with him. "You're not planning to leave me stranded here are you?" He chuckles as I ask him what his motive for the blindfold could be. I can hear him chuckle. "Just trust me, ok? I promise you'll like this place." His husky voice fills the air as I walk to his lead. "Ok," I say nervously and grip his hand tighter.  He comes to a sudden stop, making me trip over his foot. Luckily, he stopped me from falling. Bad thing, I've pinned to his chest again, and the stupid butterflies in my stomach go crazy again. He slowly lets me go and goes behind me. Softly, he takes off my blindfold, my eyes widen in shock as I glance towards the lake.  He had set up a small tent made of wood and adorned with fairy lights, flowers, and colorful feathers for us. A few candles light the night for us. A projector set with a white sheet to project the screen on it. A small table sits in the middle of the tippy-styled canopy with two elegantly set dinner plates and candles, along with pink rose petals and glasses with water. Everything was set on a cream-colored rug, and pillows were set for us to sit on them.  My mouth gawks open, and I'm left speechless as I slowly make my way. "Logan, you set this up for us? This. . . . this is beautiful." I say in a low tone as I slowly run my hands through the beautiful flowers on the canopy, I glance over towards him. A smile brightens his face as the moonlight makes him look handsome as ever.  He brings his hand forward, and I reach for it taking it slowly, following him to take a seat on the pillows in front of the table. "I'm glad you like it. I'll be honest, I've never done this for anyone, I wasn't sure t to do so, I kind of got a bit of help from a few older ladies who were more than glad to lend a helping hand with the details." He says as he takes a seat next to me.  "I have to admit, this is nothing from what I was expecting you would do." I smile and hang my head low before he realizes I'm completely flushed on my face. I can feel him staring at me, with a smile on his face, an uncontrollable feeling in my stomach as the butterflies make me feel vertigo in full course inside my stomach. "So, besides dinner, what would you like to watch? Your choice." He says while reaching over and turning on his laptop and projector.  **** The night was completely magnificent. Logan was a complete gentleman with me. His mom's catering business had made a wonderful dinner for us, including appetizers and dessert. Since we were underage, she had set it up with a bottle of cider instead of wine. She was a wonderful cook, and I loved every bite of our food.  Through the middle of the three or so movies that we watched, I began to get cold. Logan had thought of everything. He had a basket near the tent, where he had placed blankets for us in case we got cold. We sat there under the moonlight, watching movies until we completely lost the notion of time.  For the first time, we had a full and pleasant conversation without arguing. We talked, joked, and enjoyed each other's company. And yes, I'll be honest, there was a moment through the middle of watching Sara Burgess is a Loser, where he leaned in close to me and I allowed him to kiss me. It was sweet, and a glorious kiss.  He didn't push for a make-out session, but it was a kiss that I wished could have lasted longer at the time. We didn't care nor bothered to glance at our phones or watch. We simply embraced the company of each other, and let it be. Whatever the night brought with it, I was content with the outcome of it. MY eyes began to feel heavy, and involuntarily, I leaned on his shoulder. He smiled kissing the top of my head and placing his hand around my shoulders. He reached over with his other hand and pulled the blanket to cover me better. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep. He didn't bother me, he simply sat there next to me, watching the movie until it ended. *********** Logan I must have fallen asleep near the end of the last movie we were watching. The ray of the sun rising woke me up. I laid on top of the pillows we had set up around us to be more comfortable. Sophie laid on my side, her head, and arm on my chest. Her other hand was under my waist. The stomach butterflies began to awaken along with me as I saw how beautiful she looked in the morning.  I didn't want to move, this way, I could prolong her staying by my side. But, sadly, she slowly began to open her eyes.  She jolted up, realizing we had both fallen asleep by the lake. "Oh no. Logan! Did we fall asleep? Oh god, my parents are going to kill me. We have to go." She sat up quickly. I grabbed her hand, pulling her back down, making her fall on top of me. I looked into her eyes with a smile. She was absolutely beautiful. "Sophie wait. Please?" I begged her. The sun was barely rising, and there was no way I'd pass on a sunrise next to her. "Logan we have to go. Please, take me home?" She insisted, her voice calm and low. She bit her bottom lip, her hands gripping my shirt lightly. I slowly closed the gap between us and claimed her lips.  Careless of our morning breath. I parted her lips with a small bite, invading her mouth and caressing her tongue with mine. Though the kiss heated a bit, I allowed her to pull away when she wanted. Our breath was erratic, as we caught the air we were depriving each other. She leans her forehead on my chin and a bright smile forms on my face. "Please take me home Logan?" She whispers, my fingers slowly caressing her hair and back. "I will. Just, one last thing I want you to see. Ok? After this, I'll take you home. I promise." She glances over and smiles, "Ok. What is it?" I point to the back of her, making her turn. She sighs and turns her body. leaning next to me, her head resting on my shoulder and hand on my chest as we welcome the start of a new day, and what I hope, a new start to us. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
