Sophie
The night came, and after we had finally done all the errands and chores we promised my parents and Troy's grandma, we got an opportunity to get ready for the party.
Logan had already texted me a few times asking if I was going to show up. Sending me cute puppy faces of himself and pleading for me to go.
Troy was eager to go because well, it's a small town. Most high schoolers go to parties when there is one. Which for Troy, it meant that Dylan was going to be there.
"T, you need to be upfront with him. You need to tell him how you feel. Stop hiding it from him." I said as I ran my fingers through my hair, standing in front of him.
He buttoned his shirt in a nice teal blue that looks so good on him. He wore dark jeans and black vans.
"Oh, look who's talking!? Who was sucking face just earlier today, but doesn't quite. . . what did you call it? Doesn't know what to call what they have? Bull s**t honey! You got it bad for Logan, just as bad as he has it for you. I mean, what are you waiting for? For him to get tired of waiting for a yes and hook up with another girl?"
My mouth gawked open, I was astonished by his words. I grabbed a pillow, throwing it at him, hitting him on his shoulder. He giggled and launched at me, tackling me on top of my bed.
We both fell on top as he tickled me.
"Ok. . . Ok. I get what you mean, ok? I just, I'm not ready to place a title on what we have going on T. He's changing with me? yes. But, it's hard for me to take him seriously so suddenly. Especially after he and I hated each other for most of our lives." I said as we both sat down on the side of the bed and moved my hair behind my ears.
Troy smiled, placing a hand on my cheek, making me lean on it. "Don't rush things, baby girl. I get it. You're scared." He said as he stood and grabbed his cologne, spraying his body.
"That's the same way I feel. I mean, what if Dylan is not gay? What if I'm just hoping he is because I am just so damn attracted to him? I mean, it's wishful thinking, right? But, you get what I'm saying."
My head hung low and my hands were pursed together on my thighs.
"Yeah, I get it." I sighed deeply and let my body fall flat on my bed with my hands over my head.
He giggled and came forward, extending an arm out for me. "Come on. We should go before Lexie starts freaking out. You know she hates when we take forever picking her up." I smiled and grabbed his hand.
I took a last look in the mirror, my makeup skills were improving a little. I had decided on ripped black jeans with Dr. Martin boots, a loose white shirt, and my burgundy leather jacket. It was getting pretty cold already. We were now officially on the fourth week of September and Logan's birthday was coming up in just a few more days.
I ran my fingers through my lips, making sure my chapstick covered my lips completely, and placed the tube in my pocket. I grabbed my phone, keys, and debit card and followed T out the door.
It didn't take us long before getting to Lexie's house. We picked her up and headed to the party. By the time we were close, Troy got a call from Dylan. His face lit up in a bright smile as he hit the green button and placed him in a loudspeaker since he was driving.
"Hey T, where are you guys? You're going to the party after all or what?" Dylan's voice sounded through the music playing on Troy's car. He smiled and glanced over to the side, making sure no cars were coming as he made a right turn, merging onto the main road.
"Yeah, we're heading there now. Are you going? We'll see you there, ok?"
"Actually, about that." His voice sounded disappointed. "I'm not going. My bike's in the shop. I need to replace the brakes. So I guess, maybe next ti-"
"What? No. Get ready! I'm on my way." Troy hung up, giving Dylan no chance to negotiate or neglect the offer.
The military base was past the house we were going to, so we drove past it, picked up Dylan, and went back to the party.
By the time we got there, it was getting pretty dark. A lot of people were already there. Like always, some of the football players were out playing with a football. Steven was outside talking to a girl that I hadn't seen in our school before. She was really pretty. She had long blonde hair, blue eyes, and beautiful flawless skin. It was pretty cold out, so she wore a long sleeve dark brown shirt, dark jeans, and a black cardigan with long brown Ugg boots.
Her hair hung in loose curls and makeup was done perfectly on point.
He waved at us as he saw us nearing the house, and the girl smiled towards us as well.
We went inside and the music filled our ears, soon as we entered the house. Now, let me tell you! Our town is pretty modern. But!!. . . we have a lot of farms and ranches around here. People that come to visit say that it has southern hospitality, but with a modern twist. So I'm pretty sure you can picture how crazy it can get down here.
It's mainly our old folks that still have that southern accent, but not all the younger ones. Logan didn't come to our town until he was around ten, he lived in Chicago before that. So needless to say, he didn't have the southern accent. Same with Troy, since he has been going back and forth to New York and here. Lexie, on the other hand, has a big southern accent. She's a southern belle all the way.
But I think that's what most people find so hot about her. She's like a supermodel with a southern flair.
We made our way inside; Lexie and I following T and Dylan in the kitchen to get a drink. The punch reeked with alcohol. Nonetheless, I took a cup from Dylan. I slowly took a sip, but I wasn't used to drinking liquor, so it burned my throat as it went down slowly.
I averted my eyes to the dance floor, and there he was; my stomach fluttered as I saw him dancing carelessly with a beautiful girl. I felt the jealousy creeping on me. It shouldn't bother me, because technically, he wasn't my boyfriend; so I shouldn't be angry or jealous right?
"Ugg, Sophie! You're pathetic. I should have known he was just playing games with you." I thought out loud to myself. He looked like he was having such a good time. He laughed and held her arm in his. She was really beautiful after all.
She had long light brown hair and fair skin. She wore a tight short dress that accentuated her curves and low heels. And why wouldn't he be dancing with her? She looked like one of those girls that belonged on a cover of a magazine.
I gulped my drink and placed down the cup. I didn't want anyone noticing me, I tried to hold back my tears as I saw him dancing there.
Just when I was turning on my heel and ready to go out to the backyard, I heard him call my name. He ran towards me, he held the girl's hand in his pulling her along with a smile on her face. He probably wants me to meet his new girlfriend.
I pretended a smile on my face and fought back my tears. He sighed and hugged me tightly. "Hi! You came." He said in a low husky voice as he tried to catch air. He was probably tired of all the dancing.
"Yeah. I came." I said as I tried to sound pleasant and unbothered that his girlfriend was still staring at us.
The music slowed a little to a different song, he stared at me, locking eyesight. It always makes me blush when he does this. I felt my face hot and a smile formed on his beautiful face.
"Ahem!" The girl cleared her voice, her arms crossed and looking at Logan. "Oh s**t. Right!" Logan grabbed her, placing his arm around her shoulders, making her smile.
"Um, Sophie I want you to meet Meghan. Meghan, this is Sophie, my girl." He said letting go of her and pulling me by my waist and kissing my lips.
Ok, I am way too confused now. What did he mean I'm his girl? and who in the world is Meghan? I had to know before I lost my mind.
Meghan chuckled and hit him on his shoulder. He chuckled and kissed my neck, turning his body so we both faced her.
She extended her arm with a smile on her face. "Hi, Sophie. It's good to finally meet you. He's been talking about you nonstop since I got here. He's got it bad for you honey. I have never seen him so whipped with any girl before." She says, leaning forward and laughing.
"Shut up Meg. Can you blame me? Look at her? She's gorgeous, isn't she?" He smiles, looking at me as he holds me tight around my waist.
"I, um. . .ok, I'm confused. Meghan, right? Who are you?" I asked the curiosity was getting the best of me.
She chuckled and nodded her head. "Logan and I are cousins. His mom and my mom are sisters. We just moved in a few days ago. We hadn't come down to say hi because we've been busy settling in. You go to Logan's school right?" She asked pointing at me.
I suddenly felt foolish for letting my mind run wild and assumed the worst of him. "Yeah. We go to the same school. Not like we have a choice, our town only has one high school." I said smiling and tilting my head.
"Awesome! Then I guess I'll see you then! Monday is my first day. I'm a junior, but I hope we can still be friends?" She asked with a smile, her hands crossed over her chest. I smiled and looked at Logan, a smile on his face as he continued to look at me.
"Of course. I'm sure we can be good friends. Where did you live before you guys moved here?" I asked as I pulled her towards us and we sat outside to be able to hear each other better.
Logan went and got us drinks while Meghan and I sat together. "I used to live in Utah. But my mom came down here to support auntie Riley with her catering business. Not to brag, but my mom is good with pastries. Auntie Riley? Mm. . . not so much!" She giggled and took a drink from Logan as he sat beside me. Sitting sideways, as he placed one foot on each side of the seat, making me sit between his legs.
"So! You bad-mouthing mom's chocolate cake already huh? I'm telling you, you know that right?" He said as he took a sip from the cold brown bottle.
"What? No. Of course not! I bad-mouthed all of her pastries. Face it, Logie! Mom is the one with the gift for pastries. Auntie Riley is good with all the rest of the food." She said as she giggled. Logan laughed, nodding his head and taking another sip of his bottle.
"Ok. I'll give you that. Mom is an awesome cook." He said as he placed his hand around my waist pulling me closer. He placed a kiss on my cheek, his lips cold from the drink.
"So anyway. I'm glad I finally got to meet you, Sophie. He didn't want me to come because he said I was too young. But I tagged along anyway. I hope you don't mind? I just came because I wanted to meet you." She said with a bright smile. The more I stared at her, the more she looked like Ashley, Logan's sister. She looked like an older version of her. No wonder I thought she was so beautiful from the beginning.
We sat there talking the whole night. She was a nice girl. I loved talking to her. I had finally made another girlfriend, other than Lexie.
When the night came, and everyone started to go home, Troy asked Logan if it was ok for him to take me home. He took off with Lexie and Dylan and told me he'd meet me at home later.
When Logan pulled up to my house, Meghan got out and hugged me goodnight, and moved from the back seat to the passenger seat.
Logan walked me to my door, and just as I reached the door, he pulled me to him.
My hands rested on his chest as he rested his forehead on mine. "Sophie?" He asked in a low husky tone. He always sends a shiver down my spine when he talks like that. "Yeah?" I responded in a whisper.
"What are we?" He asked. My eyes widened, and my voice hitched. I didn't know what to answer. I didn't have an answer for him yet.
"I, Logan. I don't know, yet. I'm sorry. I'm still a little confused." I know I probably hurt him with my answer, but I needed to make sure of how I felt for him before giving him an answer.
He closed his eyes and sighed, tightening his arms around me. "Sophie, I like you. I don't want to pressure you. I'll wait until you're ready. I promise." He lifted my chin with his finger, placing a soft kiss on my lips. I can't lie, a smile formed on my face as he kissed me softly.
"Good night angel!" He said softly as he unwinds his arms around me.
"Good night," I replied, my arm extended as our fingers slowly unwinded walked away.
It was a good night. . . but I wasn't going to let him leave just like that.
"Logan?" I yelled, making him turn as I ran towards him, launching myself in his arms and claiming his lips. He smiled as he embraced me tightly.
Our lips pressed together and tongues danced perfectly in sync. He kissed so good, so perfect, and tasted so sweet.
We kissed for a long time, before finally partying as we both gasped for air. "Good night," I whispered, I can feel his smile. He gripped me tightly and hugged me, burying his face on the curve of my neck. "Good night baby girl" He replied with a smile.
This is going to be a good night after all.
