Lycan King

“Lucius, what have you done to my body?” The words trembled on my lips as I looked down at myself. My voice was reduced to a mere whisper as he callously disposed of my three-week-old baby, a little life that I had no idea even existed. He despised it with a passion. The savage Lucius Nightstand, Alpha of the Silvercrest pack, has no interest in anything beyond my physical form. “How dare you speak to me in such a manner? Your child is of no importance to me, Amara. I am certain that it does not belong to me. I know you’ve been stalking around the pack, luring in different men with your wiles to sate your hunger for the food you crave—” As he began to speak, I mustered all my strength to rise from my seat and delivered a resounding slap to his cheeks, tears streaming down my face. I can see the fiery intensity of his anger burning fiercely in his eyes. He feels uncomfortable when I outshine him. “f**k you, Lucius! You know you’re the only man who claimed my body. You know that you’re the only one inside me, and you even proudly admit that, and now you’re saying that for excuses!” After unleashing those words, I anticipated a sense of fulfillment. However, my satisfaction was short-lived as I was met with a stinging slap not once but twice. He violently punched my shoulder, causing me to shriek in agony. “Ah . . .” Agony wracked my body as I collapsed onto the bed, feeling utterly powerless even to shift my position. ”Are you suggesting that I require a justification for my actions? I was your sole proprietor, and my child was the only one who ever possessed you, but frankly, I couldn’t care less. I do not desire your presence. My heart holds no desires for us, no dreams to be fulfilled.” He bellowed in anger, and his hand swung towards me once more, but before it could make contact, the door creaked open, and the doctor strode into the room. “Forgive me, Your Highness. I just wanted to let you know that she shouldn’t be stressed out because she’s still in the process of healing—” “You may hold a mere title of a doctor, but I am the Alpha of her being. I possess the knowledge and intuition to tend to her needs. She had a habit of doing this.” He interrupted the doctor abruptly and impolitely. I look up at the doctor pleadingly, hoping to elicit some sympathy. I yearn for her to understand the depth of my pain, to feel the weight of my suffering, and to grasp the gravity of my impending demise. “Your beta is urgently requesting your attention and needs to speak with you.” she whispered, “I suppose I’ll take care of this patient for a while . . ." I long for her to perceive the depth of my need for her assistance, conveyed through the intensity of my gaze. Lucius lets out a heavy sigh, his eyes piercing into mine with a menacing glare. I can feel his words piercing through me like sharp daggers, clearly indicating that he’s cautioning me. With an exasperated expression, he stormed out of the room, leaving me alone with the doctor. He slammed the door with such force that it echoed through the room. “Are you alright—” “I feel like I’m drowning in a sea of emotions, and I can’t seem to catch my breath. Everything feels heavy and overwhelming, and I can’t shake this feeling of unease. I spoke with a soft murmur. “My heart yearned for liberation. What compelled you to comply with his desires?” I probed her with a series of inquiries. My words stumble out of my mouth, tripping over each other in a jumbled mess. It’s a struggle to get them out, like trying to push a boulder up a steep hill. Her chest rises and falls heavily as she releases a deep, audible exhale. “I always refused to do what he desired . . .” The suddenness of her words takes me aback. My eyebrow arched in curiosity, eager to absorb every detail. “You’re still carrying the baby inside of you,” she said. “It’s a constant presence in my life, always lingering and refusing to leave. It felt like navigating a maze blindfolded, not knowing which way to turn, without your consent. Your body is yours and yours alone. You have the power to decide for your child.” “The thought of terminating it fills me with an overwhelming sense of sadness and reluctance.” With a firm swipe of my hand, I silenced her mid-sentence. My tears, already streaming down my face, now poured out in a torrential downpour. “He’ll be completely oblivious to it,” I added. “I yearn to break free from this pack, Doctor. Please, I implore you, lend me your aid if you possess any at all—” “I’m about to embark on that very task.” Her lips curved upward into a subtle grin as she cut me off mid-sentence. Her hand gently landed on my shoulder, giving me a comforting pat. “You look pale and sickly, all because of him, and that’s not fair,” she exclaimed, thrusting a key into my hand. I hold in my hand a legend, its purpose shrouded in mystery. I was jolted with a sudden and intense sensation. “Make sure you don’t lose it,” she warned as she gently lowered me onto the bed. I felt a sudden prick on my skin as she injected something into me. “What’s going on over there . . . Please don’t tell me that you’re in cahoots with Alpha Lucius. Please, I beg of you, spare the life of my innocent child . . .” — “Who are you, woman?” A guttural growl rumbled from the throat of the Lycan as soon as I opened my eyes, a sharp pain shot through them. But amidst the haze, I caught sight of his face - it was like a magnet, drawing me in with its powerful charisma. He was the first person I laid eyes on, and I couldn’t look away.
