We went touring around, finding delight in the beauty of the city. We had left our hotel at midday and had our tour guide walk us around the place, taking in the magnificent buildings centuries old. The chatter in public was enough to make me feel welcome and relaxed, almost as if I was used to the place.
I lifted my camera and took a picture of a statue in front of a tall building crowded with people while the tour guide spoke to Lucas behind me. As I dropped the camera, I felt one of the phones vibrating in my purse. I had Lucas' phone with me and we left our phones on vibrate. So, not knowing whose phone was ringing, I unzipped my purse and checked them.
Lucas had told me to ignore whenever his phone rang as he wanted to have time for me. All I did was tilt my head to see who it was and I raised an eyebrow when I saw a call from someone named Cindy. I furrowed my eyebrows, trying to remember if I know the person but I came up with nothing.
The only people I knew were Axel, Barry, Andrea, and our neighbors from across our house. I shrugged and zipped up my purse then joined them. My stomach growled and I blushed when they turned to look at me.
"Sorry, I'm hungry," I said and I looked over the tour guide's shoulder when I saw a food booth with a few people standing in front of it. My mouth watered at the steam I could see coming from the booth and I pointed at it.
"What is it?" Lucas asked.
"What are they selling there?" I asked the older man and he smiled.
"Ah, that is one of our special street food. Croquetas is a delicious snack you should try. It's like a bun filled with delicious goodness. Would you like to try some?" The man asked and I grinned.
"Yes, please," I replied and we motioned for me to step forward.
I chuckled and quickly made my way to the food vendor. When we got to it, I waited for the crowd to disperse before stepping close to the lady behind the counter of the wooden shack. She smiled at us and I waved.
"Hola señora," I said. I learned Spanish in school, so I had no issues interacting with anyone.
Lucas had been surprised when I told him I spoke three languages; Spanish, Thai, and French. I learned them throughout my stay in Redside because I had a thing for learning languages outside English.
"¿Hola, Como Puedo ayudarte?" The lady asked in a soft voice. (Hello, how may I help you?).
I smiled and looked at the guide and Lucas who was still stunned each time I spoke Spanish. There was something in his eyes that I was familiar with. I shook my head subtly and faced the woman.
"Yo estaba allí Cuando vi tu choza. Quiero tener algunas de sus croquetas, por favor," I said, pointing at the stack of snacks behind her. (I was over there when I saw your shack. I want to have some of your Croquetas, please).
"Okay," the woman said and turned away.
I smiled and turned my body around to face Lucas who had his tongue pushed up behind his upper teeth while he looked me up and down. So seductively that I glanced away. He was doing too much, knowing we were in public.
I tensed up when he came closer and I quickly turned around, facing the vendor. I pursed my lips when I felt his hard chest against my back and his hands on my hips. I swallowed when he brushed his lips against my ear.
"Have I told you that you turn me on when I hear you speak Spanish? With your accent and all," he whispered and bit my ear softly.
I wanted to push him back, embarrassed at the way he was publicly showing affection. When he came closer to me, I felt his hardened length on my lower back and I moved forward the moment the woman turned back around with two basket-like plates that had three of the round snack. She handed them to me and I gave the guide the other. I took the third one she was offering and handed it to Lucas.
"Muchas gracias," I said and made a move to open my purse to pay but Lucas beat me to it by giving her the money.
"Keep the change," he said and we moved aside.
"I could have paid, you know," I said and pouted.
"Sure," he said and picked up one of the golden brown snacks between his fingers.
My mouth watered at the delicious smell and I picked one up. It was soft between my fingers and a crumb-like feeling dusted my fingers. I bit into it and moaned at the flavor of the soft snack. I chewed and got a familiar taste of cheese and ham. I bit more out of it and chewed, loving the slightly spicy taste on my tongue.
"This is delicious," I said to the guide when he came close, eating his too.
"It is my favorite," he said and I nodded.
I dusted my fingers by brushing them together away from the plate and stared at the snacks. I suddenly felt the urge to try something with it but I wasn't sure if it would make sense. I had a feeling it was just me and my pregnancy cravings yet again.
"What is it?" Lucas asked and rubbed the side of my mouth, most likely to clean it.
"Uh, do you think she has cucumber?" I asked both of them and looked at the woman who was now serving new customers.
"Why?"
"I want to sandwich cucumber slices between this and eat. It'll taste great. No offense, Javier," I said to the man who shook his head.
"It's your pregnancy cravings again, right?" He asked and I nodded. "The last time this happened, you wanted a bowl of popcorn mixed with slices of mangoes in the middle of the night."
I pouted. "It's your son who's making me eat weird things. Deal with it."
Lucas sighed. "Fine. Why don't we but take outs and I'll buy you enough cucumbers to eat with it?"
I smiled. "Awesome."
Lucas smiled through the stress of my request and Javier chuckled. Lucas stepped away and made his way to the vendor. My purse vibrated again and I unzipped it. I took out Lucas' phone when I saw it was his ringing again.
"Cindy," I whispered at the name on the screen. "Why does she keep calling? Maybe it's his racing buddies or something."
I shrugged and put the phone back into the purse after locking the screen, then I went back to my snack.
