Fitz woke to the sounds of voices in his anteroom. He had left the door open the night before, but it was angled such that he couldn"t see into it from the bed, and vice versa. Although he was pretty sure someone was keeping an eye on him somehow. He was being detained pending criminal charges, after all.
He was pretty sure he heard Chief Inspector Kasteler"s voice, speaking with Blaser, as he pulled his boots on. But then he heard another, more welcome voice.
Colonel Hansen.
He grabbed his tunic and pulled it on as he headed towards the door. Hansen was indeed there, chatting with Blaser as Chief Inspector Kasteler touched a panel out of Fitz"s sight, off to one side of his open doorway. There was nothing to see, but something in his ears told him the pressure had just changed.
