Chapter 20: Magic Trick

“Ahh, how wonderful, you’re awake,” said the cloaked woman as she watched Wisteria stir only to immediately begin thrashing against her restraints.
I looked on in horror as the vines curled around her, climbing higher and higher, inching closer and closer to her throat.
“STOP!” I bellowed just as the vines reached her shoulders.
Wisteria stopped, startled.
Don’t please! It’s not worth it! We’ll figure something else out! I assured her.
The cloaked woman was cackling to herself.
“What’s so funny, Hag?!” Spat Wisteria.
I saw the lower half of the woman’s face contort in rage for a split-second before she regained her composure. She fixed Wisteria with a placid smile.
“It’s a pity Scarlet is still asleep. I have a surprise for you all,” said the woman,
