Mackenzie got shoved inside a guest bedroom on the first floor.
“Mac, thank the Goddess!” Valery exclaimed while hugging her. Mackenzie suddenly remembered Alpha Johnson saying she’d be locked up with his Beta’s mate.
“Got mated off to an old man too?” Mackenzie asked her, trying to lighten the mood.
“He was like a hundred.” Valery started laughing, but her laughter suddenly turned to hysterical crying.
“Vi, everything is going to be okay,” Mackenzie said, hugging her while Valery cried into her shoulder.
“Calm down, Vi, we have to find a way to get out of here,” Mackenzie said, looking around the room for something that might be useful.
