Kyra was going to run. Yes, that was her plan because she couldn't sit back and allow her father to sell her off to an alpha she knew nothing about. Most of her father's friends already have mates of their own, she would be damned before she is bought and turned into a s*x slave. Even if her father hated her, never allowed her to go close to him and her siblings always shoved her off and sneered at her whenever they met each other whether in the corridor or at school, she had never been treated badly to the extent of being made to do laborious jobs. Her father did not turn her into a slave — he did not allow her to lift her hands even for one day to do any hard chore — and that's exactly what she might be turned into if she sits back and allows her father to sell her off. If only she had known, if she had not been foolish and blinded by the mating bond between her and Tristan, she would never have been led on gullibly. Now, she was pregnant and all alone without anyone to console her at her weakest point. No time to sit and mope around, Kyra did not know when these Alphas would arrive so it would be better for to move fast today and leave this awful godforsaken place where she has never been treated fairly. No matter how much she yearned to curl up on her big fluffy bed to lick her bleeding wounds and cry herself to sleep, Kyra knew that even wasting one more minute here would eventually seal her fate of bring sold out. She was not the first and she definitely won't be the last girl to be sold out. She has seen how the other females suffered or even died, she wondered just how much her father hates her that he would do such to his blood. What if she had a weak wolf or did not excel in school? It was not her fault! Kyra scrambled up from her bed and rushed to her wardrobe that she flung open. She grabbed a bag and began to throw different clothes inside. From gowns that were thick enough to cover her from her cold to thick veils. She did not know where she would go, she had no destination in her mind but she knew that she needed to run as far as she possibly could from this place and that's exactly what she did. It was late already so this was her only opportunity because come daybreak, everyone would be so busy she wouldn't be able to leave without being seen. Her heart was beating fast as she searched for her pouch inside one of her clothes. Her siblings had a bad attitude of always coming to steal her money whenever she was not around. Her racing heart slowed when her hand grabbed the pouch where she had been saving all the little money her father had been giving to her. It was not as much as the one he gave her siblings but because she did not lack for food, she always saved it. Thank God she has not been squandering it. She shook it and a bright smile appeared on her face when it jiggled, the coins knocking against each other and giving out a pleasant noise. It was heavy and it only meant that no one had found its new location to steal it. Kyra turned away and hurried to her window. She slowly pushed it open and shoved her head out to check if she would see any of her father's guards patrolling about. Her head went inside quickly when she saw one approaching and she bent her head to avoid being caught. She waited for what felt like eternity to her, she raised her head to stare out and everywhere was cleared. She climbed out of the window and slowly began to climb down the wall. Her heart was beating all the way down but when her feet finally touched the ground, Kyra nearly wept with joy. She had almost slipped to the ground countless times so she was grateful when finally, her foot was on solid ground. This was not the first time she was climbing down from her room which was on the third floor but this was the hardest of them all. She did not even feel this scared the first day she wanted to try this because of the adrenaline about meeting Tristan again after they found out that they were mates. Kyra immediately raced for the woods which for the first time ever, appeared to be very far from her father's palace. When she got into the woods without getting caught, she still did not breathe in relief because now, she would have to avoid all the hundreds of guards that were positioned all over the woods. On a normal day of trying to go and meet Tristan, it wouldn't be hard but today every little sound she heard from birds and insects made her jump in fear. Everything sounded like approaching footsteps to her ears and she nearly ran into the middle of four guards. Just when she thought that she had run far from the guards and she was now free to move the way she wanted because she was close to the pack's border, she ran into a guard who had moved away from the others to urinate. Kyra quickly turned around and made to run back when she hit her foot against a tree trunk and released a wild scream of pain before she could stop herself. Her hand slapped against her mouth but it was already too late. She had been found already. “Stop there, don't even think of running." The guard's voice was cold behind her as he stopped urinating and began to walk to where she was standing. She shouldn't listen to him, she should run but Kyra knew that he would chase her. She was not as fast or as strong as her father's other children, she would be caught before she took a step so she stood still. “Raise your hands up and turn around, slowly” Kyra did as she was told, she slowly raised her hand up and began to turn around “It's you?" The guard was surprised to see her, “You were trying to run away, huh?" He asked as he took in the bag she was carrying behind her. “No," Kyra shook her head, “I was not trying to run away." “Could have fooled me but you have a bag behind you so, of course you were trying to run away. Come here” he waved at her to go to him. Kyra remained where she was as her eyes darted around, looking for a way to escape. She did not like the dark glint in this guard's eyes. It was evil and… The guard jumped and grabbed her by the hand to yank her into his arms. She tried to scream but his hand slammed over her mouth, locking the scream in. “Were you trying to run away from me? You are nothing but a weak little and there is no one here to save you. Now that you are in my arms, if you promise to not scream, I might allow you to leave after doing what I want with you. I know you are wise, you don't want to be sold to all those alphas so pick wisely. Me or them?” Kyra cringed back and nearly vomited when the stench of alcohol from his mouth filled her nostrils as he spoke in her face. He grabbed her hips with one hand to press her closer and bile rose up in her throat when she felt that hot hard length of him pressing against her. He wanted her to sleep with him in exchange for her freedom. She couldn't do it. She would die first but she did not need to let him know that. Her eyes were wide with fear as she pleaded with him using it. She knew that if she struggled, he would r**e her. “What? You don't want to do it?” The guard sneered at her, "It's no like you are a virgin or something. I will not be the first to go in there. I would just take it by force if you don't agree. No one would hear your screams anyway and thinking about it, it would be more fun that way. Hearing your lovely scream while I… Arghhh” the guard jumped away from her and screamed when she bit his hand and kicked him in the groin at the same time. Kyra did not even wait for a minute. The moment he moved away from her to grab in between his legs, Kyra took off, running like her life depended on it and in that moment, her life really depended on how fast she run. It did not take long for her to hear pounding footsteps behind her and it wasn't just from one person. The scream of that guard must have attracted the rest of the guards and now, they were after her. She would look for somewhere to hide once she had crossed the border, that's what she thought but she didn't make it because she was caught by one of the guards who threw himself on her, knocking her down and the breath out of her. As she was fung over the guards shoulder and taken back to her father's palace, Kyra raised her head to look at the border. She has been so close to escaping. Tears filled her eyes because she knew that she had already missed her chance and would be locked up once her father found out. He would be livid and who knows what he would do to her? Maybe he would not only lock her up, he might force her to have an abortion. Her life was over for good.
