Chapter Two: Will There Be Princesses?
Kiara at age nine
Kiara's POV:
The Wolf Kingdom? Isn't that where the alpha king and luna queen live?
"Why are we going there, mommy? I thought unless you've been invited, only then can you meet the alpha king and luna queen?" I asked.
"Princess, we're going there for our new kings' coronation. Every alpha around the multiverse and their families along with the beta family are invited." Said daddy, helping me get down from mommy and walking me towards the dining hall.
New kings? I didn't know that our king was about to change; they usually mention something about it at school; we usually get a day off to watch the coronation broadcast. Also, the invitees can get maximum time to travel to the palace even though this happens once every one-hundred and fifty to two hundred years, but it's still considered a big day that we get a holiday. From what I learned from the essential werewolf history book I was currently reading in the pack library was that wolves are eternal, meaning we don't age after some time; however, for the werewolf monarch to stay strong, a change in power is done every one-hundred and fifty to two hundred years.
"Daddy, does that mean Jacob is also coming with us?" I asked excitedly. He did say the beta family was also invited.
"Yes, princess, Jacob, his parents and brothers are also tagging along." Said daddy, smiling at me.
Goddess yayy!
I loved having my best friend around.
"Let me go, daddy; he and I have to pack," I said, letting go of daddy's hand and rushing off to find JJ and tell him the exciting news.
"Princess, what about lunch?" I heard daddy yell from behind me.
"It's okay, daddy; I'll eat later. Lots to do, so little time. Bye, daddy." I said as I ran as fast as I could. I didn't want daddy catching up and then force-feeding me.
"Woah, Woah, slow down, Kiki. Where's the fire?" I heard one of my brothers say when I bumped straight into him.
Ugh! I should've watched where I was going. Now he's going to keep me busy, and I won't have enough time to pack all the snacks for Jacob and me for the trip. Looking up, I see Kelix looking down at me with a smile.
"Let me go, Kelix; I have to go pack. Otherwise, I might miss something that Jacob or I might need on the way." I said, trying to get out of his hold. Suddenly, I'm picked up and thrown on his back; I shriek.
Ugh! They know I hate when they do something like this.
"No, can do kiki; dad wants you to go eat something before we head out." Said Kelix
Seriously!
I try to wiggle out of his hold, but my ginormous brother does not even bludge.
Dumb male wolves and their super big bodies!
Now was definitely a time when I didn't like being so small.
As soon we reached the dining hall, Kelix, took me to the alpha table, where daddy, mommy and my other two dumb brothers were sitting.
"I don't like you." I huffed out at Kelix as soon as he sat me next to daddy and Phoenix.
I heard everyone snicker around me.
Humph!
"Don't pout, princess. Eat something; there won't be time to stop on the way, and plus, didn't you have a double physical tolerance class today. You must be starving." Said daddy as he kissed me on my blown-out cheek.
I did say that the alpha family was supposed to be role models, so I tended to be prim and proper outside, but no one said I couldn't tweak a few tricks at home to get my way. I was, after all, their princess.
I was hungry, but who would pack the chocolate milk, the gummies, the chocolate bar and the two-bite brownies if I sat here. I had to take everything out of the secret stash under my clothes in my dressing room. But from its looks, I wasn't going anywhere without eating this yucky asparagus and mushroom-filled chicken.
Yuck! I hated eating vegetables; well, I loved french fries, which were made from potatoes, but the rest, eww, yuck.
I scrunched my nose and picked up my fork, trying to eat this insect-infected thing they called a meal. Who knows how many bugs lived in this asparagus or mushroom before they served it in front of me. Maybe if I eat really, really fast, I won't taste the asparagus and mushroom. As soon as I did that, I caught a coughing fit.
"Slow down, honey." Said mommy as Kelix helped me drink some water and pat my back.
"Never knew you started loving your greens, baby sis." I heard Helix snicker from the sides.
I glared at him, making my eyes pop out as they did in the cartoons. He would get scared then, right? Sadly, he just full-on laughed instead.
"Kiki, your adorable! Don't do that. Your eyes might fall out!" Said Helix.
What could they do? No, I never read anything like that before, but what if they did. How would I read my books and play with Jacob then? Wait, I just got an idea. Tears came to my eyes.
"Hey, Kiki, I was joking. Don't cry, silly." Said Helix, coming over and hugging me.
"Honey, he was kidding! Alright, go and pack; I think you've had enough. I'll tell the omegas to pack you some sandwiches for the way," I heard mom say.
"For Jacob as well, right, mommy?" I said, with my eyes still a little moist.
Mommy snickered before nodding and telling me to get ready quickly. I ran out of the dining hall and zoomed to my room. I closed the door and locked it when I got in, drawing my curtains. Fist bumping the air, mission successful!
I'm a genius, even though I hate lying in front of my family and pretending to be upset. But, today, it was necessary. I wouldn't be able to pack the snacks and would even have to eat those hideous things they call vegetables.
One time won't matter, right? Sorry though, moon goddess, I promise not to do that again, well, not entirely, but I promise to only act like that when the need is absolutely needed. After sending a small apology to the goddess, I check around one more time to make sure no one can see anything and go to my secret stash to take out something for the trip.
I packed some chocolate bars, two-bite brownies, Jacob's favourite gummy worms and starburst in my princess Elisa bag, and a few books I started reading regarding the werewolf monarch, so I don't get bored on the way. I also pack my iPad if I wanna play any games. After finishing up, mommy told me before I left, she left out some clothes for me to wear, grabbing the light blue cropped pants and white three-quarter sleeve shirt that had a beauty and the beast picture on it; I wore them and then asked omega Meghan to come over and help me with my hair. Omega Meghan was like a second mommy to me; she was my babysitter; whenever mommy or daddy weren't home, omega Meghan took care of me. I call her auntie Meg. She's the best; she also helps me buy more stuff for my secret stash without telling mommy and daddy. So, in conclusion, I have the best babysitter in the world.
"Auntie Meg, can you help me make two french twists, please?" I asked
"Of course, Kiara. Are you excited about going to the wolf kingdom? I heard it's enormous and magical." Said Auntie Meg.
Big? Magical?
I doubt it was more impressive than cinderella's or princess Elsa's ice castle.
"I am excited, but auntie, I doubt they could be better than cinderella's castle. Do you remember when we watched it together? Their castle was so big, with double stairwells, big windows like as big as our packhouse, and there were so many people helping there. Also, what about princess Elsa's ice castle. It was all made up of ice, and it was so huge and had a big ice chandelier in the middle." I said.
I heard Auntie Meg chuckle behind me as she finished my last twist and tied a hair tie at the bottom.
"Of course, I remember Kiki. But those are all those princesses' castles. The one you're going to may even be better than those. So much so that it may become your favourite." Said Auntie Meg.
Humph! No way!
Seeing my scrunched-up nose and pouted lips, auntie Meg tweaked my nose, giving my cheek a kiss. She picked up my backpack from the bed and walked me downstairs to the foyer, where everyone else was waiting. Giving auntie Meg one last hug, I ran towards Jacob.
"I got the stash, so don't worry if you didn't get any from yours," I whispered in Jacob's ear. He just winked his eye twice; that was our secret way to say he completed his mission as well.
Double the snacks, that means! I couldn't help but squeal and hug him. Everyone turned to us and chuckled while shaking their heads.
"You know, auntie Meg was telling me that wolf kingdom's castle is so big that it's bigger than cinderella's and prettier than Elsa's ice castle. Do you believe that?" I asked Jacob
"Maybe Kiki. Max was telling me that the alpha king is very, very rich. Every single werewolf in the wolf and human multiverse is ruled by him. He also told me he has fifty sports cars and fifty bikes, not like my bicycle but like proper adult bikes. Can you imagine? I hope I get to see them." Said Jacob. You could see his eyes sparkle with excitement.
Here I was worried that cinderella's or Elsa's castle could be overthrown and all JJ cared about was bikes and cars. Boys are dumb!
"Alright, let's go. Princess, you and Jacob can ride in the third car with omega Meg. The rest, let's get a move on." I heard daddy say.
Auntie Meg was coming; why didn't she tell me. I turned around and saw her winking at me. I ran to her and jumped in her arms.
"I hope you liked my surprise, Kiki." Said Auntie Meg.
"I loved it, auntie Meg. You and I can explore the castle. Jacob's is in a bike and car haze." I said.
"Hey! No, I am not." I heard Jacob huff.
"You so are," I said, sticking my tongue out at him.
"Alright, alright, my little monsters. Let's go. The alpha wants us in the car." Auntie Meg said.
"Meghan, make sure they don't go wild. Take care, sweetheart; if you need anything, tell omega Meghan, and she'll give us a call. We'll be just in front of you in another car with Jacob's parents." Said, daddy.
I nodded and went towards the last black seven-seater car parked. Even though I knew a lot of stuff because I liked learning, I could never know the names of cars and bikes. It was too boyish; I liked sticking to my princesses, princes and castles. The driver helped me sit at the back with auntie Meg while Jacob climbed in the passenger seat at the front.
Jacob was still mad at me for calling out his love for the alpha king's cars and bikes, and it was getting annoying. He never ignored me! Rude! Taking out starburst and gummy worms from my bag, I scooted closer to the passenger seat from the back.
"Come on, JJ, I was just kidding. Please don't be mad." I said, giving him the starburst and gummy worms.
He took them but still didn't talk to me. When I was about to scoot back and hug auntie Meg since I was sad, Jacob grabbed my arm; looking up, I saw a mischievous smile on his lips.
Oh goddess, did this dumb boy play me! I thought only I was allowed to do that! I snatched my arm from him and gave him an angry look.
Like I said, boys are dumb!
"Sorry, Kiki! I was just messing with you. If you talk to me, I promise not to do it again." Jacob gave me those innocent puppy eyes like Flynn Rider did to Rapenzul in tangled. He knows that's my weakness! Stupid, stupid boys!
"Ugh, fine. Just stop doing that." I said, trying to be serious, but a smile broke out on my lips anyway. Jacob gave me a smile and went back to playing a racing game on his iPad in the front.
I took out three chocolate bars, giving one to the driver, auntie Meg and myself. I opened my werewolf monarch book to read. Suddenly a thought came to mind.
"Auntie Meg. Will there be any princesses in the wolf kingdom?" I asked excitedly. Even if we weren't going to Walt Disney World and meeting the princesses there, maybe I could meet a wolf princess. Maybe, even become friends with her; I could give her some of my secret stash to make her like me more and want to be friends with me.
"Unfortunately, no, Kiki. The alpha king and queen have three sons. The three princes. The twin princes that will be crowned king tomorrow, Prince Kayden and Jayden and their younger brother, who is probably a little older than you, Prince Rex." Said Auntie Meg.
Humph! What was I supposed to do with princes? Yes, they were nice, but a real fairytale was when the princes came after a castle and princesses.
