Xia and Alarick stood on the balcony off their bedroom looking at the night sky. Xia noticed the faint orange glow in the distance and pointed to it. “Alarick? What is that?” she asked, fear making her voice quiver.
Alarick squinted in the direction she pointed. He tried to sniff the air, but the breeze was blowing away from him. “I don’t know, but I think I’d better go find out.”
He stalked towards the door, but when he was still only about half-way across the room, the door burst open and an Omega piled in, filling the air with the scent of panic. “Alpha Alarick, sir! Fire! In the village!”
“Find Fen! Get as many buckets as you can find and form a line to the lake!” he barked out orders as he removed his fine robes to dress in garments that allowed him better movement. “Go!”
