Chapter 3“This is spectacular,” Karen Leonard stated enthusiastically. Trent had to agree. The salad and risotto were in bowls at one end of the table, between two lit candles. The game hens, split in halves and sitting in their sauce in a deep platter, were at the other end with candles at either side. Ed had filled the wine glasses with Chardonnay, the wine gleaming golden in the candlelight. At his request, Trent had turned down the lights in the overhead chandelier, leaving the candles on the table and the sideboard, and the firelight as the primary illumination for the meal.
