AYITA’s POV.
After dropping me off, he zoomed off without saying anything and I let out a sigh, how could he be so creepy?”
My attention didn’t linger much on him as I hastened into the house and I was surprised to meet the house owner at my door.
“Sorry I am late sir” I told him, “I was kind of stuck on something and I…
“It’s okay dear” he interrupted me, “it has been fixed and I was just waiting for you to check in case something is missing”
“Oh, you don’t have to worry about that. Thank you so much sir”
“Here” he handed me the spare key, “I will take my leave now”
After he left, I opened my door and sauntered into the house and surely there was a difference. It felt more warm and more cozy like home.
Slumping on the sofa, I closed my eyes as the thoughts of Clave filled my thoughts. The way he looked was too good for me to ignore, that man could literally contest for the most handsome man in the whole world and he would win, he looked so good.
“Aren’t you tired of thinking about him?” My wolf asked inside of me, “he rejected us and even wrote us off”
“You are right now” I answered with a scoff, I was not worthy to stand beside him. At least that was how he saw me, I was not as sophisticated as Ebony or was I a strong beta like her. I was just a stupid half wolf who shouldn’t
have been mated to him in the first place.
“Always let your hair down, I love it” another memory wound its way into my head and I immediately shook my head to get it out.
What the hell was that? What memory was that? The more I thought about it, the more confused I became. What exactly happened that night and why was I constantly having flashbacks of that night?
“f**k this” i mumbled to myself and that was when my mobile began to beep.
Seeing the caller ID, my heart skipped a beat and I hastily answered.
“Good evening sir” it was my professor on the line.
“Miss Woodstone” his voice filtered through, “I am afraid we won’t be able to offer you a chance to work on your thesis program for now since the offer has already been given to someone else. Maybe you should try next year or you can apply at another college”
Tears almost welled up in my eyes as his words continued to filter into my head. I worked so hard to do this, that was the only thing that could keep me sane at the moment and I was so sure I would be getting it when I was in his office so what changed?
“Can you tell me the reason sir?” I had to ask him, “you sounded so sure earlier and now…
“Like I said Miss woodstone, someone more deserving got the opportunity and I wish you a better future”
He didn’t wait for my response and I immediately ended the call while I sat there like a zombie.
Now what was I supposed to do with my life? This was the only thing I could do at the moment.
Raking my hand through my hair, I pressed my back against the couch and closed my eyes again. This was the height of it.
A knock on my door jolted me out of my thoughts again
and a huge scowl appeared on my face. Who the hell was knocking now? I was not expecting anyone to come to the house and I would be so mad if it was that creep.
Pushing my tired body out of the couch, I walked to the door and threw it open to see Jade standing with a huge smile on her face.
“Hey, how did you know my door?” That was the only question I could ask her and she rolled her eyes at me.
“I met your landlord downstairs and he told me you stayed in the penthouse”
“That man” I gritted, wasn’t he too nosy for his old age?
I opened the door wider for her and she ventured into the house, her eyes twinkling with ecstasy.
“You have really made this place yours, haven’t you?”
“Well” i shrugged, “that’s the best I could do, I mean I had to make it mine”
“Why don’t you look happy though?” She dropped the gift bag she was holding on the table, “what happened?”
“Professor Aiden just called, apparently I can’t do my thesis program now and I put so much effort into that” I was so frustrated and Jade could see it.
“Oh my gosh” she walked up to me and pulled me into a hug, “and what was his reason?”
“Someone else got the slot” I told her, “I am just confused as it get”
“And Clave? Why don’t you speak to him? Maybe he can help. Remember he is a major supporter of the school and you are acquainted with him” a sleazy smile appeared on her face, “I am sure he would be ready to help”
I had the inkling to burst into tears but I just held myself together before pulling the two of us towards the couch.
“Clave and I are not a thing, jade” I told her and a look of confusion flashed through her face.
“What do you mean?”
“He and I were never a thing to begin with, jade and now every hope of us ever becoming a thing is lost now”
The frown on jade’s face intensified as she pulled closer to me,
“Did something happen?”
“Can we stop talking about him already?” I hissed in anger,
“I am really pissed right now and Clave is the last person I wanna talk about right now”
Jade was silent for a while as her eyes traveled around me, she could sense something was wrong. Jade had always been a curious one.
“You don’t want to tell me?”
“What did you bring for me”
Completely ignoring her, I pulled the gift bag towards myself before removing the bottle of wine.
“I brought it for the housewarming party” jade further added but I had already opened the bottle and chugged down a mouthful.
******
It was already past nine but I was still seated on the window railing with my attention on the busy road ahead. Jade had to leave for something important and I was left all alone again as my thoughts continued to wander around.
The road ahead was very busy and I couldn't help but wonder where exactly everyone was going, shouldn’t they be home?
My mind drifted off to what happened at the club the last time and I clenched my teeth together.
“f**k this” I muttered under my breath before making my way towards my wardrobe. I needed to cool my head right now and a club is the best place to me to get rid of the
thoughts of clave that have been stuck in my head.
*****
As soon as I entered the dimly lit arena, I walked straight to the bar and lowered myself on the chair, my eyes traveling around the room for a moment.
Luckily it was less filled and everyone seemed to be minding their business.
“What do you want, ma’am?” The bartender asked me.
“A glass of your best drink please” I told him.
“Make that two” a familiar figure sat down beside me and my face creased up.
“Are you following me?” I asked him.
“What do you think?” Lorenzo winked at me, “someone like you isn’t allowed to walk freely at night, don’t you know we have a lot of creeps around”
“I think at this point i should call the cops” I told him In a bid to scare him off but he looked unfazed.
“Why did you come here? Shouldn’t you be home reading a book and fantasizing about the characters?” He shrugged, “at least my sister does that”
“And I am not your sister” I rolled my eyes at him, “so just get lost”
“Hey” a dark and sinister voice called out behind us and the moment I turned, I froze in my spot, the man had a gun pointed at Lorenzo’s head.
