I find Mr Shannon at his place by the fireplace and I can't bring myself to talk to him. However, he sees my troubled look and stands up from his chair and approaches where I am standing, speechless.
He holds my hand and asks me to join him by the fireside where he has already placed an extra chair. There is also a flask by a small table beside him with tea.
“Tea?" He asks and all I can do is to nod.
He pours the tea into a melamine cup, then tops up his depleted cup and we both settle on our chairs.
I only watch him still speechless. I was so eager to tell Amos why I can't accept his request to become his girlfriend but when he asked I was overcome by emotions that I lacked the words to either say yes or no.
