Dr Turner

1069 Words
The sweet smell of vanilla hit Aga at once as she walked to the reception desk at Dr. Turners office. She walked casually up to the desk where she saw a man engrossed in a book. As she approached she began to get nervous, this had been the case since the abuse she had suffered years earlier at the hands of a man. Just as Aga was about to turn and run out the door a pretty blonde lady approached the desk calling 'Aga Smith?' Aga stopped in her tracks and answered 'here' following this she followed Dr. Turner towards an office to the back of reception. On entering the office Dr. Turner hurridely explained how Justin had told her that almost all men had an affect on her in daily life and she would almost as far as leave a restaurant if it so happened to be a male waiter, she apologised for Darryl the receptionist being present when Aga first entered and explained how she had planned for a female colleague to be the one to greet her instead. On entering the office, Aga couldn't help but become nervous as she didn't like going to see a doctor because of her fear of needles. Had she not been afraid of doctors she would have went to see a physician about the numbness she had been feeling in her legs long ago. Dr. Turner sensed Agas anxiety and immediately tried to put her at ease. "Aga, do not think too much about being here at the moment and think about it as though we are two friends having a catch-up with eachother" the doctor said. Aga who was still a bit reluctant eventually nodded and agreed to go along with what Dr. Turner said. It was then that she began to relax and become comfortable in Dr. Turners presence. As Agas mind filled again with the horrible thoughts of her past she began to shake violently. It was only then that she began to tell the doctor of all the misgivings she had endured as a young adult. As each memory flashed before her she immediately stopped speaking and found it hard to speak to Dr. Turner about everything that had gone on back then. Sensing Agas discomfort Dr. Turner sugggested "maybe it would be easier if you were to refer to me as 'Marie' instead of doctor" she thought Aga would be much more comfortable if she were to do so. Marie then began to make coffee and she played soft background music coupled with lighting a lavendar scented candle and it resulted in the atmosphere becoming much more relaxed. Aga now began to feel at home in Maries company and she marvelled at herself as the thought of sharing her past with the lady infront of her didn't seem so bad anymore. The relaxed look on Agas face made Dr. Turner confident that Aga would open up to her about all of her misgivings which had happened in her past. As Dr. Turner thought of this she was pleased to be able to help someone new and she hoped to be able to restore the girl to the carefree youngster she was sure Aga once was. Aga began to open up to Dr. Turner and straight away it became clear to her that Aga had extremely low self-esteem as a result of what she had experienced in her late teens and early twenties. Her heart almost broke when she heard the first words out of Agas mouth "It was through my own stupidity at the time that I allowed the abuse to begin". Dr. Turner had never before experienced someone to voice their thoughts that it was their own fault, although she had understood that many of her patients had this belief. As Aga went right back to the very first night she had ever met her ex she again began to shake with both nerves and fear. She spoke of the graduation where she first laid eyes on him and regretted that she had ever asked him for a cigarette. She relayed to Marie how she had only been seventeen years old at the time and had asked him for a cigarette, the only way however that he would give her one was if she gave him a kiss first. She had relented at the time and given him a peck on the cheek. The peck on the cheek had not been enough for him and he had immediately pressed his lips to hers for the kiss he desired. At that time he had taken her by the hand and brought her over to the couch-like seats and made her sit on his knees while facing towards him. She relayed what he had said at this moment asking "Can I f****r you" to which Aga had said no. However not even a full minute later he had done what he wanted to anyways and completely ignored that she had said no. Aga explained how she had felt disgusting following the events of what happened especially given the fact that the girls in her class had seen him put his finger in her. The part she regretted most was that she didn't slap him and shout at him, instead she endured it and as a result she felt like everyone in her class thought she was a slut. At the end of the night the boy had asked her to meet up with him again and instead of saying no like she had wanted to she agreed to meet him because she had been scared that he would not take no for an answer in this case either. "You see Marie, this is exactly what I meant when I said it was my own stupidity that led to my misgivings back then" Aga stated. Dr. Turner felt her heart break in two when Aga made that statement as she wondered how she was going to make Aga understand that it was not her fault she had been abused. Their session had come to an end for the day anf Aga was stunned at how easy it had been to open up to Dr. Turner. "That only scratches the surface of what happened back then, I will tell you more in our next session" Aga told the doctor as she walked out the door of the office.
