Ellie sat on Sophie’s couch with a glass of wine in her hand, watching Charlotte as she colored in her coloring book on the floor. Drake, Sophie’s boyfriend and Charlotte’s adoptive father, had late appointments today. Luckily, he had hired a new doctor to help at his practice so he could spend more time with Charlotte while she still coped with the loss of her mom, Drake’s sister. But the man was a workaholic and couldn’t say no to the patients he’d been treating since he first showed up in their small town.
