Mate?

~ Daemon’s Pov ~

“Why are you suddenly interested in this rumoured girl, Daemon? I know that you are our Alpha and I am not trying to question you, but I am worried about you as your friend. It’s been a while and I have never seen you getting interested in anyone. I did try to find out about that girl, but there is not even a single clue about her. Is she Alpha Paxton’s illegitimate daughter?” Adrian surely loves to read lots of romantic novels.

Well, someone like Paxton may have some hidden children, but she may be someone who could threaten him or his position in some way, but if there is someone like that, then why is he letting her live? He could easily kill her, so why hide her?

What could be the reason?

“Are you ready, son? I thought that you were looking forward to today’s party, so do you want us to join you?” My mother entered my room with a young woman by her side. The girl is someone who hangs around her so that she can meet me. I know what she wants just by seeing her expression and I am seriously tired of these types of women.

If I am not wrong, then she must be the daughter of some nearby pack.

“Oh, I forgot to introduce her to you. She is Gina. She is the Alpha’s daughter of the Blue moon pack. Don’t you think that she is beautiful?” My mother smiled at me, but when she looked into my eyes, she lowered her head and, with a scared expression on her face, she gulped down hard.

The woman she brought with her is indeed beautiful, but I don’t need a porcelain doll. They are of no use to me and I don’t need something worthless by my side. The woman named Gina tucked her brown hair behind her hair while she gently bit her lower lips. She walked closer to me with a smile on her face.

Adrian just sighed as he knew what was the outcome of approaching me without my permission and this one was indeed stupid to rely solely on her beauty to enchant me. Did her father tell her to seduce me? Should I simply annihilate the whole f*****g Blue Moon Pack or should I kill the Alpha and take over the packhouse?

“I believed that there was no man worthy of me, but after seeing you, I could finally say that I don’t need to find a mate anymore.” The woman dared to embrace me whilst she whispered in my ear. She was trying to press her bosom on me as she thought that I would react like any other man.

“But I believe that you are not even worthy of my attention. I am not even a little bit excited in this situation. Those men with whom you dealt before must be beasts in heat.” I grabbed the woman by her jaw and I simply looked straight into her black eyes.

Her whole body started to shiver. She then turned to look at my mother and my dear mother suddenly jumped in to save Gina, “You shouldn’t harm her, son. She came with me as she wanted to go together with you to that party as your partner. You should at least give her a chance.”

My dear mother was afraid to even look into my eyes, but even then she was trying to protect this girl.

“Enough! You don’t want me to make me angry now, do you, mother? Take this woman with you and get out. You do know what happens if I get annoyed, right?” I glared at her and she immediately grabbed Gina by her wrist and walked out of my room.

Tsk, thanks to her, I now have to change my clothes. My shirt is covered with her disgusting scent. I unbuttoned my shirt and Adrian gave me a new black shirt from my closet. I know that he must be wondering why I didn’t kill that girl, but I don’t want to ruin my mood. At least not for today. For some reason, I believe that today something miraculous is going to happen.

“Do you want me to give her a stern warning, Alpha Daemon?” Adrian followed me and I simply looked at him with a smirk on my face.

“You seriously think that I can’t handle one single woman, Adrian? It’s not that I can’t deal with her... it’s just that I don’t want to deal with her.

At least not for now. She has a role to play in my plan, so let her enjoy her time while she can... soon, things are going to change for her.” I said to him and he just nodded his head.

Adrian opened the door of the car for me and, after that, he sat beside me. I looked out of the window when a smile appeared on my face.

“You have already received countless calls from Cecilia Dawson. Aren’t you going to pick up her call? She must be desperate to hear your voice.” Adrian laughed as he put my rejected incoming call from Cecilia.

It took some time, but we finally reached the packhouse of the Mystic Shadow Pack. It’s a good thing that they cleared the snow out of the way or it would be quite difficult to drive the car.

The packhouse is more like a mansion. There is also a greenhouse behind the magnificent mansion. I stepped outside the car while Adrian quietly followed me. I entered the mansion and the first person to welcome me was none other than Cecilia.

She was wearing a deep-neck silver slit dress. There were a lot of men who were surrounding her. She moved her platinum blonde hair to one side while her green eyes were fixed on me.

There was another guy who was standing beside her. He ran his fingers through his chocolate brown hair and he had the same pair of green eyes as Cecilia. He must be Asher Dawson.

He was drinking red wine, but his attention was somewhere else. His eyes were searching for someone, but that person was surely not at the party.

“Alpha Daemon. I knew that you would surely come to the party. I am so happy to attend this party even though you are so busy. Come, let me introduce you to my brother and father. You could ask your Beta to join us.” She linked her arms with me while she stated those words to me.

My wolf was displeased that someone other than our mate was trying to get closer to us and his mood was surely not good.

“Brother. See, I told you that Alpha Daemon would surely attend the party, didn’t I? Now, you believe me that I was not lying to you.” She pulled me closer to her with a broad smile and Asher signalled one of his people to bring a wine glass for me.

Asher offered me the glass and I picked up the wine glass from the tray.

“I heard so much about you from Cecilia that I thought she had finally met her mate. It’s rare for my sister to hang up on a single man for too long, but I guess this time it’s kind of different.” I gulped down the wine while he continued to observe my reactions.

Suddenly, I heard a commotion. A few men were surrounding a girl who was covering her body. She was sitting on the floor and those people were continuously kicking her. The girl’s face was covered with her reddish-brown hair and she was wearing a sheer black dress. One could easily see through that dress, so why is she wearing such a dress at the party?

Asher was smiling. His eyes, which were wandering a few seconds ago, finally settled on the girl. It was like he was enjoying the show. He kept his empty glass on the tray and after that, he stopped near that girl. He was not helping her out, but he warned others not to hit her in the face.

“Daemon? What happened? I am asking you something. Why are your eyes fixed on that useless girl?” Cecilia gritted her teeth in anger, as I was not paying attention to her.

“Who is she?” I asked her a simple question, but I could sense that even this simple question is enough to ruin her mood.

“She? Nothing, but the worthless beauty of her pack. She is a blind and mute girl. Nothing more and nothing less.” Cecilia stood in front of me, as she didn’t want me to look at that girl.

Is that girl the rumoured girl of the Mystic Shadow Pack?

Well, even though she is at a disadvantage, that girl still refused to lower her head in front of those people. Her back was facing me, so I was not able to properly see her face.

Isn’t she a feisty one?

“Weak, she may be, but worthless... that’s not possible.” I gulped the other glass of wine and finally, I walked toward the girl.

The girl was struggling, but when those people saw me they simply stopped kicking the girl. The girl coughed out blood and her body was bruised, but she was not crying. I could hear her whimpering in pain, but she still refused to look down.

She removed the hair that was covering her face and the moment I looked into her amber eyes, I gasped in shock.

Is this possible?

“I heard about the rumoured girl, but I didn’t know that she was such a beauty. Come, let me help you out.” I whispered to her while I held her by her wrist.

What is this feeling?

Why is Ian so excited and why can’t I leave her here?

Do I want to protect her?

Nah, I hate to waste my time on weak people. They all deserve to die as only the strongest deserve to live. This might be harsh, but the world is cruel.

I know why I feel like protecting her, but I don’t want to accept it.

“Where do you think you are taking one of my people, Alpha Daemon? Serena is mine and I am only allowed to touch her. She doesn’t like it when strangers get closer to her. She only feels good when she is near me, so it would be good if you let go of her wrist.” Asher came forward and he was suddenly hostile towards me and the reason was this girl.

So, her name is Serena.

“Is that so? But why did she suddenly interlink her fingers with mine if she is one of your people and even if she is your pack member, you don’t have exclusive rights over her? Don’t forget that you are the next Alpha, but I am the Alpha, so you better watch that tongue of yours.” I kept my hand over his shoulder. Asher clenched his fists in anger and before he could open his mouth, I walked outside the packhouse with the girl.

The weather is quite cold and this dress is not enough to protect her from this extreme temperature, so I snapped my fingers and Adrian gave me the jacket. I covered her body and I ordered Adrian to guard the place as I wanted to ask quite a lot of questions about this girl.

Suddenly, she fell to the ground and I thought she was expressing her gratitude for trying to help her out, but she started to scream in pain while her fingers were still interlocked with mine.

What is happening to her?

What I could do for her to lessen her pain?

Wait!

Am I seriously thinking about someone else's pain? This is seriously not me. What the heck is suddenly wrong with me?

“What do you want from me, mate? State your business and what exactly is the reason that you helped me out?” She looked at me whilst she wiped the blood that was covering her mouth.

Did the mute girl just talk to me and the way she was glaring at me was enough to tell me that she could see me?

Was she pretending to be a mute and blind girl? Her question does astonish me, but the fact that she is talking to me surprised me more.

She did call me her mate, right?

I could smell her alluring vanilla scent. The scent is surely soft, sweet, strong and intense to the point where I want to pin her down and mark her instantly.

Well, this is not making any sense to me.

This one doesn’t even need to seduce me with her beauty, but her mere scent is enough to arouse me. Her scent really calms me down. It’s like the goddess has personally chosen her to put my mind at ease.

I don’t think I can hold myself anymore.

“Well, that should be my question. What do you want, mate?” I whispered to her while I gently kissed the back of her hand.

‘You finally accepted a mate.’ Ian sounded quite excited, but his excitement didn’t last for long as Serena pulled out her hand and her amber eyes shone under the moonlight which was falling on her face.

As long as she is useful, I am going to play the part of the perfect mate.

Let’s see what exactly my beautiful mate wants from me.
