SEVEN Steve arrived at his workplace early and took some time to wander down by the canal and stare at the narrowboats. He was close to a museum that celebrated the lives of the people who made their livelihood on the waterways, past and present, and as he gazed at the murky water he wondered again if the decision had been a good one. He remembered the summons to the office, and Chambers, his boss, looking out of the window towards the cathedral. “Beautiful isn’t it,” he said without turning around. “I never stop to admire its architecture or the years those craftsmen and artisans put in to create something so sublime.” He sighed and turned.
