#3 Abby

2060 Words
Abby worked a thirteen-hour shift. the sun had gone down as she walked out of the hospital. she had school and clinicals the next three days and moving into her own place so her days would be filled and would have no time for a social life. she smiled as she climbed into her front seat at the thought of having her own place. she drove to the post office and climbed out. her life plan was moving along nicely. everything she planned for her future was falling into place. she grabbed an envelope out of her bag holding it in her hand. she ran her hand over the letter as she placed it in the outgoing mailbox. " Fingers crossed I get into this master's program. " She smiled and walked away climbing back into her car. she had a feeling she was being watched turning to see if she can see anyone. " Abby get it together no one is watching you." she shook it off and drove away. pulling into her parents' driveway she grabbed her bags and walked inside ready to pull an all nighter before classes tomorrow. the sun peeking through woke her up. she sat up with a small snort and a paper stuck to her face. she had fallen asleep at her desk studying. she quickly got everything together and headed for the bathroom to freshen up before heading for classes. she took a quick glance at her phone seeing Roger her boyfriend texted and so did Carole and Tracy. she had been avoiding him after going home with some random guy at a club. it was no secret they weren't in love, but they had agreed that they complimented each other and could have a future. now she had messed it up. hopefully he would understand it was a one time thing and he would keep to the plan. her future plan. she was deep in thought when she heard her parents yelling up the stairs. she had to hurry or she would be late. she rushed downstairs grabbing toast and hugging her dad at the table. " got to go. love you guys. I'm moving some of my stuff today to my new place so I may not see you. are you still able to help me tomorrow get the rest of my stuff while I'm in class?" she paused for a moment waiting for them to reply. her mom smiled at her. " always in a rush dear. we decided to do the majority of it today while you are in class. that way you were all moved over and had one less thing to worry about dear." Abby thanked them and rushed out the door. it would be nice to just have it all over with. she looked around feeling as if she was being watched again. she couldn't see anyone but the feeling just wouldn't go away. get it together Abby. you are too boring for someone to spy on you. she thought to herself. she drove the distance to school and rushed to class. the day was filled with lecture after lecture and labs. she was able to finish her work early and finally be done for the day. " two more days of this then back to work. thank God this is my last semester for the year and then I just wait for my acceptance letter." she mumbled to herself. she pulled up into her parking spot in her new place. she was excited to have her own place and not have to be accountable to anyone. if she wanted Tracy and Carole over she could and have a glass of wine. she opened the door and walked in. not only had her parents moved everything over they even unpacked it all and put it all away. she walked to the kitchen counter smiling at the note her mother left behind. "thought you could use a little less stress. enjoy the wine. love mom and dad" her mom always knew what she needed. she poured herself a glass of wine and watched out the window. people walking dogs passed by. she got the overwhelming feeling of being watched again. she looked out the window but saw no one. "get it together Abby. probably just nerves. " she closed the curtain and went to bed. Abby had been in her new place for a week. it was an adjustment at first having a constant feeling of someone watching her. as the week went on that feeling went away. she was happy to have the day off from everything. she had decided she was going to go out with Roger on a date but she had woke up not feeling well and decided to rest in case she was getting the flu. she had been thinking a lot about that night with a stranger. she had never felt that charged with anyone before. she was turned on just thinking about that night. she hadn't wanted him to ask questions so she woke up early grabbed her things and snuck out of his place. since that night she had found herself driving there once but drove by without stopping. he didn't fit into her plan for her future and she needed to forget about him, besides he was a one night stand and she was pretty sure that showing up afterwards isn't in the rules it just made her look crazy. she had tried to eat but the thought made her stomach turn. " great probably getting the flu." she decided to lay back down and get more rest. flashes of that night flashed in her mind. the feeling she felt when he touched her causing her skin to jolt with pleasure. his breath on her neck as he moaned in pleasure. the feel of his tongue circling her n*****s and the way his hands felt gliding in and out of her body. she woke with a jolt as his blue eyes faded away. she was hot and aroused from the lingering remnants of her dream. " crap! I need a cold shower." she allowed the cool water to fall on her face. the dream was so real she could feel him touching her and the smell of his cologne. it smelled like cinnamon and it drove her crazy. she shook her head to rid her of the dream. she had been having dreams of him since that night. at school she would fall into a trance thinking about him or the things he did to her. she had to read and reread all her papers to make sure she was retaining what she learned. at work she had to focus on work and keep him from creeping in. " how can a one night stand do this to me? get your head out of the clouds." she toweled herself dry as she heard her phone ringing. throwing on yoga pants and a t shirt she made her way to the phone. " hey Roger. " she couldn't hide her disappointment in him calling. maybe Carole was right that this kind of relationship should have some feelings because having no passion or love just a mutual understanding wasn't sitting well with her. not any more. a week ago it would have worked fine into her plan but now she felt like she needed something more. " I was just checking in. you said you were sick." his voice was monotone. she realized this is how they always were. no real emotions just a business transaction and barely even that. " don't you want someone who loves you?" she was shocked at the words coming out of her mouth. " we act like a business contract no emotions involved. " " why do we need to love each other to make this work? plenty of people love each other and end up hating each other. we have always talked about how this would work for our future." " Roger...." her hand went to her face squeezing the bridge of her nose as she felt a headache forming and her stomach turning. she was nervous knowing that since that night her life had been turned upside down with thoughts of wanting more and feeling more than she ever thought she could. " I don't think this is working for me. I want more in a relationship and I just don't think I can do this anymore." " people like us aren't made for love. I'll wait for you to get your head out of the clouds Abby. remember that." she hung up the phone taking a deep breath. she knew she did the right thing but she couldn't help wondering if he was right. was she good enough to be loved. real love? she slid on socks and tennis shoes deciding she needed a walk to clear her head and to grab something for dinner. grabbing her jacket she pulled her door shut and started walking down her street to the grocery store. she immediately got a weird sensation causing the hair on her neck to stand up. she could feel the electricity in the air causing her to gasp as she reached out to the wall to stabilize her. his face flashed into her mind and him touching her running his hand up and down her thigh played through her like a movie on auto reel. she shook her head to shake herself from the realistic thoughts running in her head. She was finally able to control herself. she finished walking to the store. a notification posted on her phone. she dropped her phone when she realized what it was telling her. " s**t!" LATE. her period was late by a week. she was always on time not even a day late. then her stomach turned when she realized they didn't use protection. she had never needed it before since she was a virgin. " f**k!" she picked up her phone fumbling through her contacts. a person on the other end picked up the phone. " Carole, I need you and Tracy to meet me at my place right away." " what's wrong?" " I haven't started my period! I don't think I have the flu! what am I going to do!?" panic was filling her body. what had she done. she didn't even know his name. " Calm down I will get a pregnancy test and Tracy and I will be there in 10 minutes. just calm down ok Abby? we got this." the phone went dead, and Abby turned around rushing back to her apartment. she paced back and forth waiting for Carole and Tracy. There was a knock on the door and she ran to it letting the girls in. " what am I going to do?" " relax sweety! I got the test. actually I grabbed one of each kind to just make sure." They pushed the door shut behind them and ushered her to the bathroom. "Go and pee in a cup and let's get these tests started. we can just dip them in and we will go from there ok?" Abby shook her head and closed the bathroom door. taking a deep breath she pulled her pants down to pee in a cup and see what her future would have in store for her. she called for the girls and they began dipping the tests in each one and went out to the couch to sit and wait. five minutes felt like an eternity as she waited to see how she had screwed up her future. she didn't know this stranger only where he lived because one night she allowed herself to go home with a stranger and now she might be having a baby with a man she had no clue about. how could she allow this to happen? This definitely did not fit into her plan. She waited with bated breath for the timer to go off and she looked at the women sitting next to her. she grabbed their hands and squeezed them. Slowly rose up from the couch and moved towards the bathroom as they followed behind her. one last glance at them then she turned her eyes to the numerous tests on her bathroom counter. " f**k!"
