darkness consumed her. in the distance Abby saw a light. she walked towards the light embracing its peace the closer she got. with a deep breath she stepped into a clearing, flowers cascading down a mountain side. the tall grass flowing beside her as she continued to walk. a figure appeared in front of her with a long flowing white dress. she gasped at how beautiful she was. her soft angelic voice ringing out. " Abby"
" Moon Goddess, " Abby looked around at her surroundings. the moon Goddess filling her with warmth from the sun. " Am I..?" Abby took in a deep breath before finishing her sentence. " Am I dead?"
she let out a small sigh as she reached out to touch Abby's cheek. " no, my child. you are alive for now, but I need you to fight. you need to wake up." beep, beep. a sound rang out in her head. Abby was being pulled away from the light. she felt like she was being sucked through a tunnel of light at lightning speed and consumed by the dark once more. Beep, beep. the sound was getting closer but seemed so distant. a voice shot through the dark.
" Please wake up." the sobbing cut through her heart. beep, beep. the sound was louder. The sobbing calling out to her heart.
her eyes were heavy. she tried to open them but she couldn't. everything was dark and it consumed her. she felt trapped inside of her mind. she closed her eyes tight willing herself to open her eyes. " David," she whispered. Her eyes were opened suddenly as she looked down at the man sobbing. David was looking down with tears in his eyes locked on her emerald green eyes not looking away.
" Abby?" He leaned down kissing her soft lips needing to feel her as he pulled her closer to him smashing her to his lips needing her touch. "you woke up." he whispered through his tears. "My little fairy I thought I lost you."
" I need water." her throat felt like it was on fire and she looked down. she was hooked to machines that were beeping harshly causing her head to ache and pound like a hammer hitting a nail. she watched as her doctor came in.
smiling gently as she walked over starting and examination of Abby as she still took in her surroundings. " Abby, I am going to check you and the baby over and then we will get you some water is that ok? just nod your head yes or no save your voice." she nodded at the doctor as she finished her work. " well from everything i can see both mom and baby are doing great and I think that she should stay until baby comes so we can monitor them both. "
David looked down at Abby smiling. Abby looked confused still trying to take everything in. " what happened?"
her doctor patted her arm. " well you were in a coma for quite some time. I just want to make sure that we have a safe delivery for you and baby."
" you want me to stay here for a month?"
" you are more like a week or less to your due date. Abby it's been a while. can you tell me what you remember?"
Abby brought her hand to her head and squeezed her eyes closed trying to use pressure to ease her pounding head. she tried thinking back to the last thing she could remember. " I went to the elevator to head to our suite. I remember feeling someone watching me then something on my neck." her voice was a whisper as she spoke. she was straining to remember the details. " I woke up my hands were tied." her eyes went big as she remembered the face that took her. her hands came to her mouth as a tear dropped from her eyes. " Roger" she had opened the flood gates to her memories as everything came rushing back to her. David reached down trying to comfort her as she turned away trying to rid herself of the memories. " I... I don't want to remember anymore." she whispered.
" it's ok let's give you and your mind some rest ok? I need you to stay relaxed for the baby." the doctor smiled and left the room. There was a silence in the room that neither of them had the courage to fill. David just held her in his arms as her sobs took over. flashes of Roger ripping her dress filled her mind.
it seemed like hours had passed before she finally spoke up. " David?" his head came up to meet her eyes. " He tried...." she closed her eyes even tighter trying to will herself to forget. " he tried to ...."
David cupped her cheek in his hand and gently pulled her face to him. " I know." he brought his forehead down to hers and rested it with hers. " whatever you need me to do I'm here for you. we can get through this together." tears were pouring out of both their eyes. " I'm so sorry I failed you."
" you didn't fail me."
" I wasn't there for you. I didn't protect you. I never should have let you go by yourself."
" you found me. you didn't fail me or our baby. I just don't understand how he got into the palace. there are so many guards and how did he know so much about our kind?"
they both sat in silence as they pondered over her questions. David grabbed her hand needing the contact. " do you remember seeing or hearing someone else there?"
Abby shook her head. then her eyes frowned as she remembered. the smell. " it smelled like someone else was there. I didn't see or hear anyone. there was a faint smell that someone else had been there. I couldn't place the smell but I couldn't help think I had smelled this person before."
" we will have round the clock guards and a guard for you at all times. Scott is going to assign you someone that will be your shadow but you won't ever see him."
" I don't want to be a prisoner in my own home."
" we can talk about it again when I know things are safe but right now it's not safe. we don't know who helped with this." David was hesitant to tell Abby what had happened to Roger. when David and the warriors had made it inside they were blinded by a wall of light. Roger was against the wall blood pooling out of his mouth and Abby was half naked unconscious on the ground. he let out a small growl at the thought of what Roger had been trying to do.
" what aren't you telling me David?" Abby could sense his anxiety inside of her. they were connected and she felt his feelings.
" it's Roger. the doctor said it was like the inside of his body turned to liquid. there was this wall of light when we got inside. it was surrounding you." they were both quiet for a moment.
" the moon Goddess gave me gifts. certain ways of helping me. you and I share them since marking each other but it comes from her. she helps me." she was growing tired and her eyes began to close.
" get some rest my little fairy." the monitors softly beeped away as he watched her drift asleep.
three days had passed since Abby had woken up. she was feeling restless and ready to be out of the hospital. She had been able to get up and walk around the hospital with a guard close by. she was growing frustrated with always having a shadow. David had moved his office into her room never leaving her and there was paperwork all over his make shift desk waiting for him to sign them. Abby was walking through the hall when she felt a sudden rush of water flow. she looked up into her guards face. " my water just broke!" His face turned to panic as he scooped her up. his eyes turned blank for a brief moment as he carried her back. her hospital door flung open and David was standing there panic on his face. Abby let out a soft moan of pain as she breathed through it. David scooped her out of the guards arms placing her on her bed. " baby is coming and we don't even have a name for him yet."
" let me get the doctor!" David rushed out to the nurses desk then in a flash came back next to Abby's side. her contractions were getting stronger and she was in clear pain. David came behind her having her lean back on his chest as he ran his fingers up and down her arms trying to soothe her as much as himself. whispering in her ear. pain ripped through her as she yelled out in agony trying to relieve herself of it. beads of sweat were pouring down her forehead. she could feel her stomach tightening with each contraction. the waves of pain were coming faster and stronger. just as another one ripped through her the doctor came in. her face looked up in surprise.
the doctor reached over pushing the call button with no time to spare. " this baby is already peaking out. this has to be the fastest delivery I have ever seen! let's get him the rest of the way out Abby." suddenly the soft cries of their baby was echoing through the room as the doctor placed him on Abby's bare chest. she looked down at her sweet baby holding him close to her never wanting to let him go. his emerald green eyes blinked at her as she nuzzled him closer. " so what are we naming this strong little guy?" the doctor asked.
David looked down at Abby as she smiled running her fingers over the babies soft skin. " Abraham, the father of nations. it seems fitting for this one." David nodded his head in approval. he had never been more content in all his life. there was a soft knock on the door and a nurse came in taking him from Abby to clean him up.
