I wonder why there's a picture of Peach's father here. Could he be the person my dad wants to harm? These questions swarm my mind, leaving me utterly confused.
Suddenly, my dad's voice interrupts my thoughts, startling me. What excuse can I give him now without making things worse? Slowly, I turn to face him, finding his gaze fixed on the picture I'm holding, his eyes widening in shock. "Why do you have that picture?" he asks nervously.
"I'm sorry, Dad. I shouldn't be here. I just wanted to..." I trail off, unable to find the right words.
"It's okay, Cody. Just don't come into my room without permission next time, okay?" he says calmly, taking the picture from me. "You can always spend time with me if you miss me that much," he adds with a hint of amusement, making me smile.
