Chapter 6: Uninvited Guest

1200 Words
***ROMAN'S POV*** I sat in my office going over the plan I had planned with Alpha Cesar the previous week. I was exhausted. Sleeping became even more difficult after I rejected my mate. I wasn't getting much sleep before that with the repetitive dreams, but at least they were pleasant visions of a stunning woman. I was haunted by the memory of her beautiful face twisted in excruciating pain. "Pain that you caused, asshole," Goliath spat. "Just stop! I did what you were too weak to do. You have no idea how hard it is to see past what your soul desires and needs and do what's best for the pack. I did what I had to do," I shouted back at him in my mind. "If you believed that, you would have let her reject us. Now she suffers because of you!" Goliath bellowed. I didn't mean that to happen, but I had to get away from her as quickly as possible. She would have weakened my resolve. I would have held onto her and never let go. I had to create distance between us before she broke down my walls. "She will be alright. I won't screw around with any females until after the next full moon. Then our bond will be broken, and she will be free. We both will." Goliath growled at me, and I felt a pain in my heart from my words. "Free to do what? Free to have another man touch her? Pathetic! You'd give your soulmate to another man! Weak excuse for an alpha! She was made for us! SHE WAS MADE FOR ME!" Goliath was seething. I didn't blame Goliath for being upset because everything he said was right. Symone was created to be my perfect match. She holds the other half of my soul, of my very being. If I weren't the alpha, I would accept her. But I have to be as strong as possible for my pack. I couldn't do that with a human luna. I tried to force Goliath into submission so that I could get back to my work when my heart started to race and my hands started shaking. My mind got fuzzy, and suddenly I began to smell a faint hint of jasmine and rain. "MATE IS HERE!" Goliath is like a child who just saw the ice cream truck. "That's- that's not possible. Why would she come here?" I said, speaking more to myself than Goliath. It was at that moment that Darien mind linked me. "Alpha, she's here." "She who?" I asked, even though I already knew. I just needed to hear someone else confirm it. That way, I knew I wasn't losing my mind. "Your mate. She's requesting clearance into the territory." Darien's voice is so stern and sober. He knew our bond wasn't broken, and it would be hard to be near her without touching her. But I needed to know why she came. Maybe she came to beg me to reconsider? Perhaps she wanted to ask me to give us a shot. "Or maybe she's here to kill you. I would have done it myself if it didn't mean my demise as well." Goliath laughed at his own joke. i***t. "Let her pass," I demanded. Darien fell silent for a moment, then replied. "Yes, alpha," he said with disdain. He knew not to question me, not when it came to Symone. The wonderful smell was growing more potent, and I felt the strange feeling of butterflies in my stomach again. Goliath was growing content as her scent filled my lungs and clouded my mind. Her scent is fantastic. After what seemed like a lifetime, there was a knock at my office door. I stood behind my desk and froze in place as the door opened, and her scent hit me like a ton of bricks. Darien was the first person I saw. He presents her hesitantly. "Alpha Roman, may I present Symone Mitchell." Darien stepped to the side, and the woman of my dreams walked in beside him. It was literally the woman of my dreams. The woman who haunted me in my daydreams was standing only a few feet in front of me. Her expression was nothing like any of the dreams I had of her. She wasn't smiling. She was also not crying or in pain. How was she even able to walk? Though I was happy to see her well, I was still confused. Most wolves couldn't take the pain of rejection until the bond was broken, so how the hell could she? "Maybe mate isn't as weak as you say," Goliath said smugly in my head. I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. I just stared at her like an i***t. Her face was blank but with a hint of anger in her eyes. What was she thinking? "Looks like she came here to kill you," Goliath retorts. I broke my gaze from her captivating eyes and examined the curves of her body. She is thick in all the best places with a beautiful hourglass figure. Her thick thighs and hips were accentuated by the tight denim that hugged her body deliciously, showing off her stunning body perfectly. I glimpsed at her chest. My Goddess, it is lovely. She's got ample breasts and showed just a little cleavage. I could hear Goliath growl with lust. Then I saw the spot on her neck where I would have marked her- just below her ear. It was beautiful. I wanted to touch it; I wanted to touch her. "Do it, i***t! She's ours! Apologize, beg for forgiveness and take her!" Goliath commanded. "Leave us," I told Darien. He gave me a look that screamed surprise. Before he could protest, I asserted my powerful voice. "NOW," I said sternly. "Yes, alpha." Darien bowed his head and turned to walk out, but not before shooting a look at Symone. I wasn't sure what the look was about, but I was not concerned about him. I was only interested in her. I could hear her heart pounding in her chest. I still hadn't said a word to her. I didn't know what to say. I rejected her and then had s*x with someone else, almost killing her. I wanted to apologize, but I didn't think she'd accept it. I wasn't sure how she was even standing there. "You are stupider than I thought. My Goddess, how did I get stuck with such a dumbass? Don't you feel it? She is strong. Stop denying her." Goliath chimed in once again. I pushed him to the back of my mind to give Symone all my attention. "What did you want to see me about?" Wow! My voice was shaking. That's a first. But this woman is my mate, and our bond is still intact, so it was no surprise that she would have such a hold on me. I heard her heart skip a beat when she heard my voice. For a moment, her eyes softened, but only for a moment. She crossed her arms, and her words broke me in half when she finally spoke. "I am here to accept your rejection."
