“I was in a car wreck at sixteen. It was a head-on collision outside of Philadelphia. I was driving a Ford Focus, heading east. A friend was having a birthday party. It was around this time of the year. Very hot, I recall. The humidity was a killer. I was wearing a pair of shorts, bootie socks, and a pair of athletic shoes. It was early evening. Harvey Road weaved left and right. I wasn’t drinking. I stayed in my own lane. I wasn’t speeding. Two other friends almost rode to the birthday party with me. I had a Cinderella license, which meant I had to be home by eleven. It was a pool party, I remember that now. You try to block things out of your life to move forward. Some people use the blocks as a survival technique. I think I might have blocked that out a little, not that it pays my story
