A week had passed and the young man stayed inside his room. Rarely did he exit for his meals or to use the bathroom. Perhaps after everyone in the house fell asleep, Nolan perceived, Zeb had escaped his private bedroom and ate his meals in the downstairs kitchen, showered, and took walks around the neighborhood or along the lake for fresh air. He was never seen at breakfast with Victoria and Bradley. Each had questioned Nolan about Zeb’s whereabouts, claiming they hadn’t seen the man in a week.
Victoria admitted, “He gives me the creeps when he’s around, anyway.”
