Chapter 24: Legendary sword

“I was wondering why we’re still with this cat girl?”
I asked while walking.
“I’m not a catgirl. I’m a fox cat you see my ears are longer and my tail is smooth looking.”
She is right that tail is really smooth looking and tempting at the same time.
Without a second thought, I grabbed her tail and hug it. I submerge my face on it rubbing it with delight. The catgirl fidget and got irritated. With anger, she pushes me away.
“Don’t touch me! Princess tell her something!”
“... … That tail looks tempting.”
The princess looks toward the tail. Drooling and her eyes fixed on it. Seems like she also wanted to have a hug on it. Knowing the situation. The catgirl put her distance together with two siblings.
“It looks like my stuff toy when I was a kid… But don’t worry if you don’t like being touch… I won't touch you… Now that we’re working with each other from now on… What’s you’re name?”
Asked the princess and from behind she hugs the tail.
She did the opposite of what she said.
“My name is Cake… I don’t care if you’re the princess so let me go!”
“You’re name sounds tasty…”
I commented.
“... So the catgirls name was Cake.”
“I’m not a cat goddammit! This is my little brother named Rasp and my little sister Berry.”
Rasp… Berry… Cake.

Their mother is out of ideas. I won’t question their name because my name Hanayuki is already weird. I don’t even know what country this name came from.
From the incident yesterday. I accepted princess Eula’s offer of working with her. Apparently, the kingdom is in danger and taken over by an evil ruler. Princess Eula was able to escape from the castle and currently searching for people able to work with her.
“What is that key anyway? What is the use of it?”

“That key is important to the people who took over the castle. Without it, they are not able to open a special door. But it will take time before they complete all the keys. There are five keys to open the door. The last key is with my respected sister Princess Yusael.”
“So there are other princesses outside of the castle.”
“To be exact there are five of us outside doing their princess trials. Looking at the surrounding, the place still looks peaceful and the news of the royal family being captive inside the castle is not out public. I better hurry up and save my family.”
“Why not ask the help of other princesses?”
“I doubt they will help me… Yusael my sister have her own world, she doesn’t really care that much. Alicia is very weak and arrogant. I have never heard anything from my other two sisters Noah and Justine since the last three months. Maybe, something bad already happened to them… I’m worried…”
After walking for too long we’re able to stumble upon a small town. We get to a restaurant and eat lunch. After that, we go to the dress shop to get some new clothes. Eula bought clothes suit for our taste.
“Princess Eula… I’m honored to serve you.”
The shop owner bows her head.
Princess Eula is really popular.
Whenever we go she well knows. In the restaurant, she gets extra food and preparation. It's almost embarrassing walking and eating next to her. Because of the attention, she’s pulling.
We bought a big bag and let Cake carry it.
“Are you sure you wanted to carry the stuff on your own?”
I asked Cake. Cake with a grin on her face make thumbs up and replied.
“I’m fine we beast-kin have a strong physical body. Lifting this big bag is nothing on me. I’m not a combat specialist like you. This is all I can do. I’ll be the supporter.”
“We’re going to be supporters too!”
“We support a big sister.”
Rasp and Berry said with flare on their eyes.
While we are jumping shop to shop to gather the necessities in our adventure.
I turned my head to the crowd of people.
“What is this all about?”
Eula asked.
“This is the sword pulling ritual many people came here to pull the sword…” He stepped back and was shocked. He immediately kneels and bows his head. “I’m sorry for my tone princess Eula.”
Everyone sure knows her.
“Don’t sweat it.”
The crowd turned their heads to Eula and bow down. Eula walked and like a crowd of people make way for her.
In the center of the crowd was a sword stuck on a rock.
“So this is the legendary sword. According to the legend, the sword has the power to slip heavens, land, and sea’s.”
Eula stepped forward and took the grip of the handle of the sword. People around us became excited. “The princess is going to pull it!” “Princesses are special, maybe she can pull it.” “She might be the chosen one.”
“Go! Big sister Eula!”
“You can do it, princess.”
The tailed siblings are rooting for her too.
Eula clenched her both hands and pull the sword with all her strength. She gritted her teeth and make an expression that is not suited to a princess.
Exhausted she gave up.
“That was tough. Hanayuki tries pulling it. You're so strong you might pull it in instant.”
“Me? Well, I’m not interested in using swords. But puling it looks fun I’ll try it.”
I step in front of the sword and look at it.
Maybe the trick is the angel of pulling.
I took the handle with my two hands. I pull it with my strength.
“This is really tough…”
I don’t like losing so I tried my best to pull the legendary sword.
“This won’t do a little girl like her won't pull it.”
“The princess is exaggerating her.”

The land was cracking while I’m pulling the sword. With all the strength I’m using the birds and the animals in the nearby mountain are all fleeing away.
Eula looks at me calmy while the two-tailed siblings are currently ducking down on the ground.
“Princess cover yourself!”

Cake suggested.

I would like to put the sword back on the stone, but the stone is already destroyed.
“Are you sure you don’t want to wield that sword Hanayuki?”
“It was heavy… I don’t like it.”
Princess Eula claps her hands. The destroyed land earlier was restored and a newly build rock shrine was placed in the middle of the town.
“The town was fixed.”
That’s definitely earth magic. So she can use magic like me.
On the newly build rock shrine. I struck down the sword on the rock.
The night comes and we spend our night at the Inn in the same town.
The beast's siblings are sleeping. Meanwhile, Eula and I were outside having a breath of fresh air.
“I was disappointed, I thought I get a chance to wield a legendary sword. But it's not useless being here, we’re able to gather necessities on our adventure. Since we’re traveling as a group. We should get an Earth dragon and carriage.”
She said and smile.
“I’m glad that you’re still able to smile like that. With your family in danger, I thought you’re always troubled.”
“Of course, I’m always troubled… It's not the king or the queen… I was worried about my siblings. Instead of being very troubled every time. I put a tough face on being happy and optimistic. Like heroes in the story, I will save them with a smile… How about you Hanayuki? You’re not the evil incarnate aren’t you?”

I said confidently and continued with a serious mood.

From the sky, a man covered with golden armor appeared. He's tall and has a manly posture. Ashen hair and azure eyes.
“Lance?”
“You know him?”
“He's one of my personal knights. Golden flash Lance… His incredibly fast and powerful. He bested many knights in the kingdom…”
That’s a flashy nickname.
