*** Another meal of rice and beans awaited Olivia on her return to her cell. As usual, she was famished and devoured the food in seconds. As was her custom following any meal, she sat back in her cell and waited for the next horror to arrive. Minutes after her meal ended, she began to feel her consciousness start to unravel—this was normal, too. Soon her dreams began and her body fell into another sound sleep. No longer was there any doubt that she’d spend another chunk of time in her mind’s dreamland; it happened too often to be a coincidence.
