Chapter 5Johnny skated about half a mile before his phone vibrated. He ignored it but when his mom’s ringtone came on, he stopped, stepped off the sidewalk and onto the grass, and answered his cell. “Hey, Mom.” “Where are you?” “Skating.” “I’m not picking sides. You know that, but c’mon honey. It’s both your birthdays. I wish you wouldn’t fight on your birthday.” Johnny didn’t say anything. “Still there?” “Yes.” Johnny headed to the shade of large oak tree nearby. He ignored the soreness he felt from where Colton had landed a punch earlier. “Will you promise me to not go to bed angry tonight?
