As Millie pulled Jace to his feet, she struggled not to jerk her hand from his. The way he stared made her feel exposed, vulnerable, n***d. But she couldn’t tell whether or not he liked her new look. She wanted to know. Badly. She let go before lowering her arm to her side. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine.” His gaze remained locked on hers, and she swallowed around the blow-dryer-size lump in her throat. “The hot stone massage left me feeling like overcooked pasta.” “At least you’re no longer stressed.” Something Millie wished she could say about herself. She waited for him to mention her makeover. The way he kept looking at her had to be a good sign. Right? “Being restored worked for you.” He nodded. Hmmm. Maybe she needed to be more direct. Not that she was fishing for a compliment. Okay.
