Chapter Seven

1837 Words
Kendra I woke up to an empty bed, he’s nowhere in the room. The spot where he laid is still warm though so he must’ve just left the room, well that was fun while it lasted. I climbed out of the bed and got a shower, did my hair and makeup and put on my dress Stormy specifically requested I wear. It’s a red and gold-trimmed dress that gives you evil vixen vibes, I love it! It hugs my curves in all the right places and makes feel prettier than normal. I choose to stay barefoot until it’s time for the ceremony, so I grabbed the shoes and my handbag heading downstairs to try and find something to snack on.  The house is in full swing, people are everywhere getting things ready. Chairs are being decorated and then carried to the venue of choice, food is being brought in and placed on tables, people are being escorted outside to the giant tent for entertainment before the ceremony. Most of these people I’ve never seen before but I can tell they must be important because they all look like royalty. Heads held high and moving through the rooms with grace and elegance. There was one lady that was what most would say is the absolute definition of perfection, her skin pale and flawless, make up dark and sultry, curves to die for and were a gold dress that hung off her shoulders. I couldn’t help but stare at her as she walked by that was until her eyes met mine and I suddenly felt like my heart was going to stop. I saw Stormy pacing back and forth in the hallway and it looked like she was panicking.  “Storm, what’s wrong?” “Nothing, nothing everything is perfect. Maybe too perfect” “Huh?” “Have you ever felt like something was too perfect?” “Sometimes” “Everything is going without a hitch, both of my mothers are here. The ceremony is in 2 hours and I haven’t seen anything weird yet. Should I be worried?” “No love, weddings are joyous events. Calm down. You just have cold feet.” She stands there wringing her hands together still pacing the hall, she looks pale and confused. She then doubles over and cries out in pain, after a few minutes she stops and then says it’s just a cramp. I look at her like she’s crazy, just a cramp she’s f*****g pregnant. I take her into the room behind her and make her sit on the couch, I feel her belly and I can feel my little monster causing quite a fuss in there. I tell her not to move so I can go find someone to help. I rush out of the room and run right into Athos and his date, She’s tall blonde and supermodel pretty. As soon as our eyes meet he freezes as if someone poured cold water down his back, I just smile at them both and quickly go around them. I can feel his eyes on me as I rush down the hall but I don’t have time to care at the moment, My eyes are watering and I’m in no mood to ruin my damn makeup. I knew he was talking bullshit to get into my panties and I was stupid enough to let him but I knew what it was. Why am I crying right now? UGH, I am not that girl. I searched the crowds until I finally found my man of the hour, Mark.  I ran right up to him and started pulling him in the right direction.  “Let’s Go” “Okay, but I think Stormy would kill us if she knew” “Shut up! You’re not my type” “Oh s**t, my feelings are hurt, Kendra. You like Athos but not me, you're breaking my heart” “You’re stupid. Stormy is having contractions and needs medical attention.” “Okay” His voice sounded so small there, I can’t imagine him being afraid of anything. As big and demanding as he is. We entered the room and heard screaming, Athos standing by her head and telling her it’s gonna be ok. A lady, in what looks like scrubs, is telling Storm to push. The little one is on his way. Athos saw Mark and switched places with him but not before hugging his brother and telling him it’s gonna be ok. He walks towards me and pulls me outside by the hand, I yank my hand back and wait for the good news.  “I need you to hear me out” “For what? So you can lie?” “I’ve never lied to anyone. Especially you, now calm the f**k down and come here” “No” “Are you really gonna do this right now?” “Do what?” “Be a f*****g Brat” “f**k you!” I spat before storming off down the hall, He’s too fast for me because before I could turn the corner to run up the stairs I was scooped up and thrown over his shoulders. I kicked and screamed and cursed him out on the way upstairs but it was useless. One swat, he gave me one swat across the ass and the pain surged through my entire body instantly shutting me up. We got to his room and shut the door behind himself before setting me down on my feet. I looked around his room, it was a mess damaged everywhere as if someone threw a temper tantrum. I stood there looking around and I was caught off guard when he leaned down and kissed me. I wanted to bite his f*****g tongue off but instead, I melted into his kiss like butter in a hot pan. He stepped back breathless and started to talk. “Look, things are complicated.” “So I’m a complication?” “I didn’t f*****g say that. You know in all of my life I’ve never met someone so infuriating. You make my blood boil but the moment I kiss you the moment I touch you everything goes calm.” “Awes, that’s the most messed up thing I’ve ever heard.” “That girl down there, she’s one of Marks exes. She’s married to another Alpha but still a major slut and wants Mark. And had he not found Stormy he’d probably be f*****g her right now.” “Even though she’s the mate to another Alpha?” “Ha! Mark wouldn’t care.” “Okay. And?” “And, last night was one the first times in my life I felt ok. My ex Xiomara was my mate, or I forced her to be. She also brought me solace but it didn’t last because of my evil mother. Luckily you’ll never have to meet her because she’s dead.” “I’m sorry you lost someone you loved” “I’m not. I had time to let myself heal, I took her son on as my own. His name is Xavier, he’s pretty special. But I met you and from the moment I saw you Selene made it so I knew you were supposed to be mine.” “I’m not property ya know! I’m a person” “I know… but I will kill a man if they look at you, so there ya go.” “Nut” “I busted one last night” “Gross” “You didn’t think so” “How did I end up with the childish one?” “I am not childish ma’am, I act like a child but I’m not childish” “Same difference!” “I’m going to check on my friend and god-son” I ran down the stairs and found Mark standing in the hall. His hands covered in blood and a small person wrapped in blankets in his arms, tears rolling down his face as he looks at this person.  I walked over to him and smiled at the sight of the beautiful little man he’s holding, but the moment became dark and somber as soon as I noticed we were in the hall. I went to go check on Stormy but he grabbed my hand to stop me. I yanked my hand away and walked into the room anyway, I had to look at the couch twice to make sure I was seeing things correctly. Stormy lied there so quiet and small and still, the nurse pulled the blanket over her face and guided me out of the room. I looked at Mark who was now sitting in the hall cradling his son and crying, Athos is trying to console his brother, Connor runs over and tears are running down his face. That beautiful woman from earlier is even here and she storms up to Mark and takes the baby from him. “Selene, he’s my son” “He’s my grandchild and wouldn’t be alone if it weren’t for you. He’s coming with me.” “You can’t do this” “I can and I will, I will not let you end the life of another person.” “It was a complication due to the magic in her and the wolf in me” “Exactly! You’ll have to explain to Lucifer why his daughter has died, he knew she was dying before any of us. Believe me, before this day is over he will be here. My grandson will not go with him” We all just stand there and watch as she storms down the hall, Athos jumps up and runs after her.  “Goddess Selene, May I ask you a favor?” “Speak boy, I have to leave NOW” “Take Xavier too. Please provide him safety, he’s done no wrong.” “Bring him here, hurry” Athos runs outside faster than I’ve ever seen him move before and he grabs Xavier bringing him to Selene. She bends down and tousles his hair telling him to come with her, he looks back at Athos but Athos walks away. They disappeared into the mist that was forming outside.  Stormy has passed away and I didn’t even get to say goodbye.
