The Town:

810 Words

The Town: Adriana regarded the foolish young woman and shook her head. She has poor taste in men. Jinx will be a horrible mate—he is unable to provide for himself let alone a family. She had heard about places like this, but she never experienced one. The noise and chaos aggravated her nerves, but she had a mission, even if different from Jinx’s pub crawl. She followed the effluent that flowed down the center of the alley. She decided the trash she sought would be in the dirtiest part of town. The sun lowered over the wall, and torches were lit to help guide patrons to the stalls. Nighttime and flames would never hide the poverty and squalor the residents endured. The painted faces of the men and women working the streets reflected the torchlight in a grotesque caricature of real life.
