Chapter 2: She’s The One

974 Words
Christian  I noticed Trinity coming down the hall, humming and eating a slice of pizza.  “She’s the one.” I had been arguing with my wolf, Maceo, all day about this girl. I never really paid much attention to her. I’d see others in the pack picking on her, doing mean things, and calling her a traitor. My sister was her biggest bully. Whenever I did run into her, she always had her head down. It felt weird being mean to her, but everyone else did it and it was just a pack thing. I couldn’t shake the feeling, but on the stairs earlier, I felt drawn to her. Maceo kept telling me she was our mate. That couldn’t be right though. The Moon Goddess wouldn’t allow a strong Alpha to be mated to a weakling. My father was one of the most powerful Alphas in our region— a pure-blood. Our mother was also of Alpha blood. They were true leaders.  I noticed she had turned around, so I called, hoping she would come back.  “Trinity!” She froze. I continued walking toward her. She turned around, staring at the ground. I didn’t really know what to say. I just wanted to talk to her for a minute. I had to.  “Going to bed?”  “Lame.” “Shut it, Maceo!” He retreated.  She nodded, but didn’t look up.  “We don’t get to eat pizza much, huh?” She looked up and gave me a shy smile.  I never noticed before, but she had the most beautiful pair of green eyes. Her caramel skin was clear and smooth. Her hair was a shiny dark brown. Man, this girl is gorgeous.  “She is our mate!” Maceo was practically drooling as I stared at the shy, trembling girl before me.  “Can I walk you to your room?” She gasped slightly and looked around nervously, then nodded.  It was silent for the first two minutes.  “Say something, nitwit!” “Didn’t I tell you to f*ck off!” Maceo was beginning to get on my nerves.  “So, uh, what do you like to do for fun?”  Her eyes widened and she gave me another shy smile.  Trinity  “So, uh, what do you like to do for fun?” My eyes widened. I wasn’t expecting him to ask such a question. Although Christian barely looked my way, he still acted like the rest of the pack. I wouldn’t consider him to be my friend. I know this has to be some kind of cruel joke. I looked around, waiting for Paige or one of her friends to jump out.  “You ok?” “Huh?” “Are you looking for someone?” I shook my head and we proceeded toward my room at the back. “Will you answer my question then?” A smile spread across his face while he waited for me to speak.  “Um, I like to read and draw.” He chuckled a little.  “Boring, right?” He chuckled again and shook his head.  “Not at all. Have you been to the movies? The mall?” “No. I don’t get out much.”  He looked genuinely surprised by my response.  “If you’re up to it, maybe we can see a movie this weekend.” I blushed, which earned me another chuckle.  “I would like that.” I noticed him staring at me with a small grin on his face.  “Great! I’ll let you pick the movie.” “Ok …” “Well, I should probably get going.”  We had stopped outside of my room. I was hesitant to open the door. I wasn’t ashamed of it because I kept it clean and organized. It was very small though. There wasn’t much besides a twin bed, a dresser, and a desk with a small wooden chair from the packhouse library that the Alpha allowed me to repair. I didn’t own much. Everything I had was hand-me-downs. I shared a bathroom with the omegas, so I kept my toiletries there. They were pretty nice to me. Sometimes I would hang out with an omega named Brittany, who was my age. Other than that, they minded their business and I minded mine.  “Ok, see you around.” I felt a little more at ease as he turned to walk away.  I opened the door to my room.  “Uh, Trinity?” I turned to see Christian scratching his head.  “Is something wrong?”  “Well, I was kinda wondering … Can I see your room?” I was taken aback by his request, but I opened the door wide enough for him to look inside. He glanced around and nodded slowly.  “Wow. It’s a little small in here. Are you even comfortable?” “It’s ok. I spend a lot of time out back. I really only come to my room to change and sleep.” He gave me a sad look and then cheered up again.  “So what time should I come by Saturday?” “Saturday?” I asked, confusion adorning my face.  He laughed heartily. “The movies, remember?” “Oh! Um, I have to finish my chores. I guess I can get up earlier and be done by—“ “Forget that! I’ll see if one of the omegas will cover for you.” He winked. Why was he being so nice to me? He turned to leave and before I could think about it, I asked, “Do you think I’m a traitor?” He turned again to face me and paused for a second.  “No, I think you’re my mate.” With that, he walked away, leaving me stunned.
