(Narrator)
Tessa was getting out of the shower when she was overwhelmed by intense emotion. A gasp left her lips as she clutched her chest. Her wet hair clung to her skin and tears formed in her eyes. Rowan must have woken up and seen her text. The mark she had put on him allowed his emotions to flow to her and right now he was feeling a lot. She sensed his surprise, guilt, and defeat. She couldn't tell why he felt defeated but she knew it had to do with her. She felt so guilty for making him feel this way.
She composed herself, wrapping her hair in her towel and drying off. She slipped on her tight jeans with a loose fitting tee that fell off her shoulder. As she was finishing her makeup her phone vibrated.
'Morning Tess. You beat me to it today. Had a late night,' she read.
Her brow raised at his last statement... late night? She couldn't help the jealousy that rose in her. She knew it wasn't fair since she too went out but she couldn't help but wonder what he'd been out doing, and with whom. She wanted him all to herself.
'Meet up for lunch? The little bistro off Main?' She eagerly awaited his reply.
'Sure, noon?'
'Can't wait !' she answered.

Dimitri sat in the board room along with his mother, father, the council members, and Rachel. They were going on about how business had slowed in the donor clinics as some patrons had boldly demanded more money for their blood. They were linking it to an unstable economy with the humans and their desperation. He knew he should care about what they were discussing as it was part of his duties now that he was back but he was distracted with thoughts of Tess. His memory of her beauty had not done her justice. Seeing her again had stirred up his lust for her. But he could tell she had wanted to get away from him. She seemed different in a way he couldn't pin point. Goddess knew he was changed. Had she sensed his changes?
"Dimitri.... Dimitri!" It was his father calling his name, pulling him out of his thoughts.
"Yes Father?"
His dad looked embarrassedly at the council members. "Son, alpha Gabriel asked you about your travels. When will you be informing us what you discovered from the packs you found?"
Dimitri nodded. "Of course, soon, very soon. I want to have time to create a planned out presentation. There is much to discuss," Dimitri answered cooly.
His father nodded. "We will give you the time you need, meeting adjourned."
Dimitri practically sprinted from the room. Rachel promptly followed him, her long, black hair flowing behind her due to the speed they traveled.
Dimitri slowed his pace when they were far enough away and turned to her, "The dungeons, what have you found out about them?"
Rachel's eyes gleamed, "They are still standing and in relatively good shape. It appears no one has ventured there in a very long while."
Dimitri nodded, grinning, "Good, have the men begin the restoration process."
Rachel nodded obediently and began to head off when Dimitri suddenly grabbed a hold of her wrist.
"I need you to do some digging about someone for me," he asked her. "An old friend, Tessa Monroe."
Rachel's eyes narrowed briefly and she curled her lip in displeasure but recovered quickly responding, "Of course."
"See if anything has changed with her recently, in the last few years." He added.
Rachel nodded.
Satisfied, Dimitri let her go. He was confident Rachel would find anything he needed to know, she was very efficient and his most trusted partner.
