9. Hurting and Healing

Rosabella- Dargan's words registers in my mind and all the excitement leaves my body. I try to get on my knees to turn around and face him but he doesn't let me. He pushes me back on my stomach and I wiggle to get out of his grip. "What are you saying?" I have understood what he is talking about but I have even forgotten about that mysterious letter. He really had to bring that up now? "Answer me." He clutches the flesh of my inner thigh that makes me whimper in pain. "I have told you before. I haven't been engaged with any man before you." I say looking in his eyes sideways. The man who was just a minute ago hovering over me has completely changed his intentions and he looks mad. "I hate the people who lie, Bella. I hate them and hurt them bad. Tell me the truth." He clutches my jaw tightly while asking. "I'm telling the truth. I don't know who sent it." I say fearing from him being so close and livid. I want to desperately get away from him.  What was I thinking of letting him touch me? What trick has he played on me? Howcome I ended up being beneath him, on my stomach? "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I warned you." He says while his eyes glint with excitement, something devilish.  He gets off me, trailing his fingertips on my back and I instantly try to get up but a smack on my bottom makes me stumble and squeak in pain. "Stay where you are. If you even raise your hand off the bed, you won't like the consequences." He threatens with his eyes blazing. "What do you want, Dargan? I told you I was not involved with anyone. It's either you trust me or get out of my chamber." I say getting up while holding my dress. I stretch to get the sheets on the bed to cover myself when he pulls it away from my reach and leaves it on the floor. I only notice his eyes before I'm down on the bed with his hand around my throat. Just enough to warn me and nothing more.   "I'd advise you to obey me, Bella. Trust me, I don't want to torture your skin more than I'm going to." He says rubbing his nose on my bare shoulder.  "Stop calling me that," I say through gritted teeth at the same time pushing him by his chest. He doesn't even budge and continues sniffing my scent. Again sniffing. Humph! What did I expect from a wolf?  "You didn't mind Ana and the other one using that name." He says. "It sounds awful coming from your mouth. I don't like it coming from you." I say making him pull away and smirk at me.  "We might have to change that now... because I love that name for you, Rosabelle." He says taking my name for the first time and that is too wrong.  "It's Rosabella, Dargan," I say calling him by his name. Am I the first to ever call him by his name in front of his face?      "You'll know soon." He smirks. "We'll see, Dragon," I say deliberately but rather than getting angry, his eyes flash to silver from browns and my lips part in surprise. Did I just get a glimpse of his wolf?   "I like that name better." He says before pulling away while pinning me down by his eyes. He didn't get angry? The wolves hate the very name 'Dragon' or 'Sorcerer'.  "Turn on your stomach." He orders and I turn on his demand. Deep down I want to know his intentions. I know this is wrong, but I still want to do it. His voice compels me surrendering to him. "Do not try to peek." He says and I hear a little noise of metals clanking. I resist the urge to turn before soon enough I scream feeling my back burn. "Ahh!"  Dargan's hand hold me tight against my stomach and restrain me from turning around and rubbing my back to ease the burn. Tears spring up to my eyes as I feel my skin burn. "Shh..." I ignore his shush and try to wiggle out of his grip. Several cries leave my lips but he keeps me down. "Dargan, leave me! What have you done?!" I scream at him through the pain. "Just a little more." He says as if he is too engaged in something. I feel hot droplets at my lower back and a burning pain hits me again. At the same time, Dargan drops a candle holder beside my face. I see the leftover molten wax slipping through it but I know the rest is burning my back. "Dargan, leave me!" I scream put all my effort into pushing him off me. His grip loosens only to tighten again. I know I've taken him aback by my strength. "Tell me the truth, Bella." He urges me to speak. "I will die than to accept something I haven't done!" I yell at him. "Leave me!" I add.   "I will. Just don't roll on your back or you'll ruin your skin forever." He says. Perfect time to show affection! I feel him let go of me and I prop up on my knees. I stretch and my skin hurts being stretched under now solid wax. "Stay like this. I'll remove the wax." I hear Dargan say and hear his footsteps getting farther from me. Tears stream down my cheeks as I think back about the incident that has just happened.  Monster! He is a mad man! I'm not even surprised anymore to think about Eleanor. The insanity runs in the family! I don't know how his mother would be? The whole family is a mess! Why did father marry me here? I'm certain he wouldn't have if he knew that his son-in-law is insane!  The candleholder vanishes from my sight and gets placed somewhere by him. Next, the bed dips as he settles beside me. I turn my head to head to the opposite side still on my knees. "I want Nina here," I say in a low voice. "You can meet her in the morning." He says ad I turn my head back to him. My eyebrows furrow seeing him with cotton and an oil bottle.  Doesn't suit him! "Nina will tend to the damage."  "I can't trust her with your delicate skin." His words make bile rise in my throat. "You didn't seem so concerned before pouring the hot wax on me." I scoff. "Because I planned to make it right as well." He says and at the same time, I feel the cotton on my lower back, gently wiping the wax. I moan in relief and he continues. I enjoy the treatment for several minutes before letting my curiosity win. "Why did you stop?" I ask him about the punishment he had decided to give me. "You better have told me the truth because I'm trusting you on this one. If you lose, I'll take a heavy penalty." He says before getting up. I sit facing him with my hands around me. "Sleep. You'll meet Ma tomorrow." He says turning away from me before stopping two steps before the way out. He looks over his broad shoulder before demanding one last thing for tonight. "Sleep on your stomach." He is sick.  I follow his figure until finally I'm left alone. I take a few seconds to gather myself up before tying to knot back behind my neck and getting off the bed. I pick up the sheet Dargan had pulled away from me and get on the bed again. "I better sleep to face whatever happens tomorrow," I mutter to myself and lie on my stomach pulling the sheets below my lower back. I don't have enough energy to change and I might irritate my skin while changing.  I heave a breath sigh and close my eyes in search of peaceful slumber. Don't know what tomorrow beholds for me, but I hope it's better than today.
