An hour later, he was relaxing in front of television with a beer in one hand and a copy of Men’s Health in the other. Television bored him, as he assumed it did anyone who had a brain, but he was waiting for the six o’clock news to get his daily fix of murder, war, and misery. Occasionally, tucked away amidst all the horror, there was something of actual interest, something relevant to him and his life, and for that reason he tolerated the rest. Then, more often than not, the television was switched off after the sports and weather, and he found something more constructive to do.
