The Battle in the CourtyardAdolescence, like tofu, was weird. For example: Zorn never thought his survival would depend on his ability to create a Homunculus. Still, even though he had no idea whether or not the spell would work, he was fairly sure he enjoyed the whole process, so much so that he wanted to do it again, maybe with a different one this time. To be honest, until they’d completed the first spell he’d been a little afraid of the book, despite his attachment, his obsession. He’d never had any real experience with magic outside of church, which told him it was evil, and his old school, where the weird girls walked around in black tutus and black lipstick and called themselves Wiccans. Then there was the time his mother hid his favorite blanky and told him a faerie stole it. But
