His Life

895 Words
I entered the building through my private elevator in the basement. I normally avoid people and interact with them as less as possible or whenever it’s required. The last time I hung out in a group was when I was 21 and in US. One of my classmate dragged me to a bar with his friends and it was chaos. Everyone was drunk out of their mind while I hate losing control of my mind. I reached my floor, the entire floor has only my cabin and my secretary’s. There is a lavish meeting room where meetings with important people takes place. There is a game room where I spend my leisure time to calm down or take a break from work. I got in my cabin barely nodding at Carla, who was standing near my cabin doing her usual antics to get my attention. I really controlled my urge to roll my eyes at her. She’s being more and more obvious as days go by. I hear her enter my cabin behind me. “Good Morning sir” She chirped and I grit my teeth in annoyance. “Good morning” I said in hoarse voice. I’m not a morning person. “What’s my day like?” I asked sitting on my chair. “First thing is, you have a conference meeting with our UK client then you have a stand-up meeting with digital dream team. After that you have tons of documents to sign. Then lunch and later your afternoon is lined up with meetings. First with Xaxan project client and then with board members” She listed out my plan for the day and gave myself a boost to get myself ready for today. It’s going to be a long day. “Okay” That’s all I said and she knows it means she has to remind me every 10 minutes before the meeting. “Sir, your coffee” She placed my coffee on the table. I’m not caffeine addict but I need them to function here. “Oh! Sir your father called and apparently angry that you didn’t meet him last week and not picking up his calls. He wants you to call back as soon as possible” She said using her sweet voice. “Tell him I will” I said in annoyance. What’s the need to tell her so much details? “You should meet him sir, he misses you. If you want I can join yo-“ “Enough, get back to work” came my highly irritated angry voice stopping her midway. Muttering ‘Okay sir’ she rushed out. I sighed leaning back on my chair. First dose of irritation- check! I got into my conference meeting with our UK clients, I have very good relationship with them. They were very eager to work with us and ecstatic when we accepted their project. They are one of the project my team works on. After the call, Carla reminded me of the meeting with my team. The only time I get out of my floor is for these meetings. My team is very important to me and getting to know them more gives me more confidence to take high end projects. We deal with huge amount of money and if we can’t deliver on time then our company will be degraded and which is what I don’t want. I close my laptop and walk out of my room, since past few days this floor feels dull and boring because my friend is out of town. When he gets back, he will create more drama than people in this building combined but of course with the help of my cousin, Aarav who works in my team. Nope, no nepotism. He is as genius as he is crazy. He is freaky genius with computers. I can’t remember how many times I have yelled at him for hacking my computer. Just because I’m quite and mind my own business he thinks I’m some kind of a kinky guy who has tons of kinky stuff stored in my laptop. Idiot! I entered their floor, which is right below mine. Yeah, I don’t like wandering much. As soon as I stepped into their floor, I saw everyone in their glass walled cabins except 2 people. This was a new approach made by our Architecture firm which I liked. One is my cousin and other is a girl who I don’t recognize. Both of them are sitting in the middle of the floor, kneeling down looking at something. Everyone else is looking at them from their cabins. I cleared my throat to gain their attention and Rahul looked at me. He looked shocked but got out of it before rushing out of his cabin. “Guy!” He told both Aarav and that girl. “Look whose here” He said loudly making way towards me. “Boss” He said smiling uneasily. I kept my blank face on. I saw Aarav and that girl move but saw a small puppy in the middle of the floor. I gritted my teeth, glaring at Aarav and that girl. They.Are.Dead.
