"Cedric and Flora, you are taking kids with you to the Paradise Island." I announced after taking time to get myself back to action after vomitting for what feels like forever. Giovanni is sitting in the corner of the room quitely, lost in thoughts while his eyes were fixed on me "Lucianna and Matteo you are going with them. Keeping children safe is the first priority."
"No, I will stay here with you, Heaven. Lucianna, Cedric and Flora can take kids to the paradise island." Dad spoke "I can't leave you here to manage this all alone."
"Dad, you know keeping Gabriella and Lorenzo is my first priority and always will be. I trust you four to take care of them. I have Rick and the whole Italian mafia gang with me over here. I will be fine. If I want to focus on running this throne and protect our mafia, then I need to send my children away.
If they stay here, I will be scared all the time and you of all people knows better that weakness can bring you to downfall, and my kids are my weakness. I don't want them here. End of discussion. Your four are leaving. I have explained Cedric and Flora about the whole plan and gave them a map for security measures."
Dad’s face relaxed, but I noticed the concern in his face. "Okay Heaven," he whispered. I give you my word to keep my grandchildren safe with my life. What I am worried about if you you know as much powerful the throne is, it could be brutal and merciless too, after reading the threat I want to tell you that this fight you are going for is not with some stranger, but with someone who knows everything about us. About you and Giovanni."
"I know, dad. But, I will handle this." I assured him " Everyone's stuff is packed and loaded in the car. Time for you all to leave so I can begin this war." Cedric and Flora stepped forward to hug me and smiled, holding my hands.
"We will protect them as they are our own kids, Heaven. We will give our lives to protect them, but won't let anything happen to them. You have our word." they gave me their word and I nodded.
"I know you will, that's why I chose to guard kids while Rick stays with me." I tell them and glanced over at Rick."After all, I kept the best assassin to myself. Didn't I?" Rick groaned and rolled his eyes as he mutters something which made Cedric laugh.
"Man, I know you want to be at that Island, but hey, don't ruin my chance over here to enjoy the beauty of that Island. You are practically always there with Giovanni and Heaven." Cedric teased Rick.
"Just go away, asshole." Rick grumbles when I glanced at Giovanni who was looking at whole scene but not saying anything, then all of a sudden he stood up and approached forward and finally opened his mouth to speak. He looked at me steadily and passionately to show me he was fully determined as I was.
"I may not have all my memories, but I still have instincts. I understandd what danger is and how one has to defend their own no matter what comes their way. I agree with Heaven over here. Gabriella and Lorenzo are better away from here. I guess I would have done the same thing she is doing when I had memories, and something tells me that I wouldn't have just sent kids, but her too. Wouldn't I have?"
"Yes, you definitely would have." everyone agreed laughing "You would have let us die, but not her. After all, she is your treasure. Isn't she?"
"Yes, she is." Giovanni agrees with a smile, staring right into my eyes and I smiled back "Let us go and say goodbye to our kids and assure Gabriella that we will come to take them back when this is all over."
I simply nodded, my chest felt full and warm as I looked into his eyes. That warm look in the eye, even if he had no memories of me in his head was the same love that I have known all my life. We went to the courtyard hand in hand and saw that Gabriella and Lorenzo were present with their nannies.
"Leave us." I ordered the nannies, who nodded and left. Once we were alone, I picked up Lorenzo in my arms and kissed his cheek while Gabriella came running to us with a frown on her beautiful face.
"Mama, papa, Nany Rose was telling me that you are sending me and Lorenzo to the island with our grandparents and godparents? Is it true? Was Nanny Rose telling the truth?" Gabriella asks "I don't want to go, mommy. I want to stay here with you and papa."
"I know you do, principessa." Giovanni said getting down on his knees and removed the soft strands from our daughter's face "Trust me, you mama and I don't want to be apart from you both, but we need to do this for you both."
"Are we in danger, papa?" Gabriella asked concerned "Do you have your sword to protect us, papa?" Giovanni looked at me, confused having no idea what she meant so I took over.
"Yes, your papa has his sword and he is going to protect you and Lorenzo with it like our knight in shining armor. You know Papa is the King and he always protects us. Right?" Gabriella asked with sparkle and hope in her eyes. Her small hands were tightly holding Giovanni and she was looking at us undecided. "Well, then, if something bad happens, you’ll come to rescue us, won’t you? Like a real king and queen would?"
I was beside Giovanni on my knees, and I put my hand on her shoulder softly. "Yes, sweetheart. Anyway, you will always have a Papa and I with you. This is only for a little while, and when we find that everything and everyone is safe, we will come back and get you and Lorenzo home."
She embraced us both, the little arms encircling us narrowly. There was tension, her small heart beat against my chest, as if she sensed the grimness of the situation somehow. But she was brave as her father and did not speak at all, just bowed in agreement.
Giovanni kissed Gabriella's cheek and smiled "But while you are on the island, I would like you to watch over your little brother for us, okay? Make sure he behaves. You are a very good girl, my little princess you are so brave, and we are proud of you, I know that you will not fail me. Will you principessa."
"Because I am mafia princess. Right, papa?" she asked and I choked after hearing her word.
"Hey, who told you that?" I asked "We don't say that, princess. You are not mafia princess, but our princess only. You got that?"
