She's back

Miles POV          ‘She’s back; she’s finally back,’  I was clutching and looking at our photo that I took from our house yesterday morning. She dropped and broke the glass of the frame. I picked it up when she left to join Mom in the kitchen. I never thought I’d ever see her again. After eight long years, she was here, and she was bringing back all the pain and memories I kept all those years. Kathy still has a special part in my heart. Even with what happened to Marcus, I always wanted to talk to her and explain myself, but she seemed not interested in it anymore. She knew the truth, all those years.         She was more beautiful than I ever thought. I rarely saw her pictures since she was not into social media or any business gatherings. The only time I would see how she looked now was when her parents sent us their Holiday cards pictures.         I upset her again and acted like a jerk this morning. I called her a liar and childish. Those words seemed unforgiving. She still stood up on what she said about Nadia, the poor woman, who until now was taking Kathy’s silent wrath. Nadia was a nice woman, I used to love her, but I didn’t know that the love I had would cost the life of my Best friend, Marcus. ~              “Buddy, I know you have your eyes on her, but I am begging you to please let her be with me. I know she likes me too, and I love her. I spoke to her dad already, and he permitted me to date her. I don’t want to lose the only brother that I have. Please, she’s all I ever dreamed of”             Marcus begged me. We were on the rooftop of our school building.             Nadia and I met first in California. I was about 16 years old. I ran into her in one of the coffee shops, my Aunty Charlotte  running. I was with my cousin Theon when I found out she was my cousin’s classmate. We only met once, and I knew from the start that I feel attracted to her. She was beautiful.             I never saw her again after that incident, and the second time I met her back was when her family moved to New York after two years. Things went out fast; we became closer than friends; it was a kept secret to her family, even to Marcus. Then it happened. I didn’t know that Marcus had feelings for her too. He thought that Nadia and I were just friends. He was able to get permission from her dad to date her that unfortunately put stressed on our friendship. I couldn’t lose my brother over a girl.      I let Nadia go and be with Marcus. She eventually accepted Marcus, and I thought everything was going well. Nadia and I remained friends. I still can’t understand why Kathy hated her so much. She kept telling me how hideous a personality Nadia has. I knew Nadia’s a hard-working person and works her days off without rest during our High school days. Sometimes I was not too fond of Kathy every time she tells me about it. She was and still being a brat after all these years...         “Hey, Buddy!, you seem thinking so deep? Care to share?” a voice startled me. I didn’t realize my cousin- company lawyer David was already standing in front of my office table.           “Hey! How was the meeting yesterday?” Ignoring what he said to me         “It was fine. I was able to get the papers that I needed to review before we proceed to the deal they were offering to us,” David answered. He seemed so happy today.         “Okay, thank you, let me know what you can find with the agreement. I need to send and speak to the Roberts before making a decision in regards to that.”         Even though Mike brought his company to Switzerland, he trustfully left most of his business shares with my dad. I was now the CEO of the company, and dad had barely does the work except doing inspections and checking the company’s growing chains of hotels and restaurants.          David sat down on the receiving visitor chair and boosted his leg on my table.         “Oh, speaking of Roberts, I finally met the princess,” David said excitedly.         “Excuse me?” Scowling at him while eyeing at his shoes on my table, He smirked and took off his legs from the table.          He smirked. “I said finally met the heiress of Roberts; her name is Kathleen, right?” David continued,         “When and where did you meet her?” I curiously asked.         “I had dinner with her,” David replied.         “What!? How? When?” bombarding him with questions. There’s no way David was going to make his way on Kathy.         “Ha! Chill-out, my friend,” David sniggered.         “Chill? You just met her and had a Dinner date with her. Don’t you forget you’re engaged to be married, Holts?” I reminded him. He was getting married soon to Lindsay.         How did she know him when she was barely staying a day here in New York and David moved here five years ago? Impossible, she knew David. He thought.         “Wooh, wow! Relax! I just said dinner, not a date with her, and I was running off for late lunch when I kinda bumped into her at the shopping mall.”         What was she doing there? Did she go straight to the mall after our argument?         “I met her two days ago when she forgot to bring US bills with her in the grocery store, the company-owned. I lent her some money, but I forgot to ask her name. Had I known she’s the owner’s daughter, she’ll be getting everything she bought for free.” David explained         I just nodded to David. I didn’t know what to say, knowing Kathy, of course, will decline if he has offered that.             “And I will be meeting her again soon, and I also found out that she’s a nurse, and Lindsay is currently looking for a replacement at her post in the orphanage since she will be swamp handling the details of our wedding,” David said.         So she must be staying here longer if she ever accepted the job. ‘would I be able to handle her?’         “That’s fine. At least she has something to do here while resting,” I told him. David scowled at me; then I asked him,         “What? Why are you looking at me like that?         “How did you know she was taking a break here?” David asked me curiously.         David had no idea what happened to us in the past; those were the stories I declined to share with people even when they were close to me.         “Of course I know, her dad told me, and I met her yesterday morning at my parent’s house. She’s like a part of the family,” I answered him.         “That’s great. Kathy’s a beauty, Carlson, a perfect package for you,” David sounded as if he was implying something.         “Are  you insinuating something, Holts?” I asked him. I can read his face.         “Of course not. I just learned that you and her family were close, not just in business. Maybe there’s a chance that this company will be bound in blood if you know what I’m saying,” he teased.         That bastard was trying to suggest an impossible thing. I have no feelings for Kathy. I grew up knowing she was like a sister to me, and I was a brother to her. She never liked nor loved me...wait? Love? Didn’t she say that she loved me yesterday during the argument? Maybe she loved me for being a brother, nothing more, nothing less.         She looked attractively, beautiful, and smart. Anyone would fall for her, including me. Kathy was cultured and brainy, physically wise, and she had these perfect green eyes, a small buttoned nose, red lips, and her sexy body that seemed so lovely to hold and touch…         “Hey, Please come back to earth Miles Carlson” I heard David calling me. I didn’t notice I zoned out again.         “Hey, I’m sorry, I just remembered something. I should go now, and I need to meet someone for dinner,” I said to David, preparing my things and slipping them inside my office bag.         David walked toward the door and looked back at me. “Okay, I’m leaving too now, remember what I said, Carlson. Kathy is an angel. Don’t let your chances slipped.” David smirked at me before he left the door.         “Bastard,” I shouted to him.         I checked my phone and found a message. It was from Nadia. It has been a while, and She may be needed my help again.
