Royal Marriage of The Luna

I stood in the floor-length ornate gold mirror admiring my own form. Today was the day that I finally meet and marry my mate. Part of me was excited, the other part of me was upset and a little bitter. I knew that the bond would bind me to my given mate, but I also enjoyed my independence and freedom. I didnt want to be told that i could no longer train with my warriors or come and go as I pleased. I wanted to be active and free. I have never wanted to be caged by a man, mate or not. I am not one to be "kept" as they keep saying. My mind wondered, but my wolf Amber felt as if she was dancing across my brain, annoying me to no end. Amber had been howling on and off for hours since late last night, knowing that my mate had entered the castle under the cloak of night. I could smell him when he entered the castle grounds. The smell hit my senses so hard that I was woken from a dead sleep. The smell of cinnamon and vanilla wafted through the castle halls, causing Amber to immediately wake and begin to scratch at my every thought. Starring in the mirror, I adjusted my crown. The simple yet elegant circlet of gold with small oval moonstones that encircled the bottom of the band reminded me of my late mothers. I had opted to dress myself after Olivia braided my hair into a simple yet elegant bun with loose tresses framing my face. My hand-maid Oliva was kind enough to lay out an assortment of options for the day. Unfortunately, every option consisted of silver and ivory fabrics in velvets, satins, and silks. Opting for comfort, I felt a cream brocade dress of silk with a high collar and fitted sleeves would work with movement and the full skirt with a train would hide my hunting boots the best. Amber kept insisting that I "dress up", so I figured the fur-edged, silver shoulder wrap would both look nice and match the fur edge of my skirt and train. Adding the finishing touches to my ensemble, I made sure the shoulder wrap fully covered the black leather harness carrying my silver Damascus dagger under my arm. Taking a deep breath, I smoothed out the front of my gown, assuring that the goddess awful corset was straight and presentable before mind linking to the guard Erik at the door that i was ready to be escorted out. As both doors to my bedroom chamber opened, I walked out into the hall and began heading to the doors of the Moon Cathedral, which remained closed until all were in attendance. Patiently, I waited as Ambers' excited howling started back up at the sound of soft violin music echoing from within the large cathedral-style doors. Closing my eyes, I let the sun that illuminated the halls warm my face as i took in the quiet sounds of murmuring from within the room before it went silent. Olivia ran towards me slightly out of breath as she came to a sudden stop handing me a bouquet of black lillies and baby's breath from the garden outside. She always thought of everything that i constantly overlooked and neglected to account for in all aspects of my life. Taking the bouquet from Olivia, I smiled softly, gesturing towards my outfit choice to make sure i had indeed chosen wisely and would not regret my decision. Olivia had only put together outfits that would flatter my form and i knew this, but being as i like pants much better i always appreciated her acknowledgment of my limited dress knowledge. She smiled brightly and reached up twirling a loose tress in front of my face, causing it to have a soft curl. Immediately, I knew something was off when her smile did not reach the look in her eyes and instead conveyed worry and a slight tinge of fear. "Olivia, are you alright? You seem ... worried dare i say?" I asked with concern plastered across my face. " Oh! Um, yes absolutely Isa! I apologize, just a busy day with lots to do is all ... ya know .. seeing as your getting married today." She smiled and quickly turned on her heels, making her way quite quickly down the hall. Now that was odd, i thought to myself a flood of questions was starting to take over. Was something wrong? Had a carrier bird come and given news of something? Oh no, is there something wrong with my mate? Before i could get lost in thought, the cathedral doors creaked open, sunlight streaming through the stained glass windows inside casting a rainbow of light across the completely full cathedral. Taking one last deep breath, I stepped onto the gold floor runner that adorned the chapel aisle all the way up to the altar. All of the guests in attendance stood facing me with bright smiles, which was very unnerving. Making my way down the aisle, I stepped up onto the stone alter adorned with a gold marble pedestal surrounded with black and red flowers from the garden. I knew Olivia would go all out when she opted to take charge, but wow, this was very simple and yet elegant in the best way. My only current concern is the fact that i stood alone at the altar with the MoonShield Preist and there was no groom standing there waiting for me to arrive. That's when i noticed the half-assed smile of the MoonShield and his slightly worried look as he nodded to me. Something was off and i just couldn't pin point what it was to save my own life. This was a very uneasy feeling, the people around you knowing something that you didn't and nobody telling you. I could think of no possible reason for the looks of those close to me and the very interested way the guests whispered amongst themselves. Looking around, I recognized everyone in attendance, from distant families to Pack Leaders from neighboring lands. This didn't sit right. There was no divide between the guests to differentiate-from my guests and those of my soon-to-be mates Pack. I heard the slow creak of the cathedral doors reopening at the front of the room and turned to see all of the guests begin to whisper amongst themselves. What was going on? I wanted answers and i understood as soon as the light poured through the doorway.
