Revenge Will Be Sweet

Eriks POV: Erik stood quietly, leaning against the far wall next to the large elaborate cherry-wood doors. He watched as those before him ran around the large dining room, the sound of shoes on stone floors, a soft and constant tapping, a prelude to the chaos. As one of the kitchen staff ran past him, he reached out, quickly pulling a large red apple from the tray she carried on her shoulder for balance. The girl whipped around, her eyes narrowing on him, watching as he playfully took a bite of the apple, a large grin plastered across his face. The girl who looked to be no more than 18 glared, her eyes emitting the soft glow of rosy pink connected to another pack long disbanded, his father's. He chuckled watching her shuffle away and continue on her diligent journey. Stepping into the hallway, Erik looked out one of the many large ornate windows that lined the hallway, bathing it in the orange and blue of a setting sun. They should be arriving any minute now and the thought of this Alpha left him on edge. Erik stilled, a mindlink coming in from one of his men at the gates. "Sir Halen, I attempted to mindlink the Queen, but she has herself blocked off. We are letting the EdenMoon carriage through the gates now, they are ...." The guard stopped short of answering, giving Erik a strange feeling in the pit of his stomach. "Sir Edmond, speak freely. What is it?" Asked Erik. Edmond was silent for a moment before answering, "Sir, they are not as they should be. Quite frankly, they are the absolute worst, if I am to be honest. Stuck up and arrogant is the nicest way it could possibly be phrased in respect. "I see, dealing with the Beta and Gamma gave me the impression that would be the case. Thank you for your honesty Edmond." Erik sighed heavily, cutting the link before opening one to Olivia. "Livy." He called through the link, waiting for her reply. An exasperated voice echoed back in a sweet melodic voice, "What do ye want Erik, I'm busy!" She hissed. Erik chuckled, "Livy my love, my little bird, my little wolf pup, love -" Olivia cut him off quickly, shouting, "Erik, I have no time for games, just tell me what ya want!" "They're here and Edmond says they are just as bad as we feared they would be, alert the staff to be vigilant. And please Livy, make sure you are careful and watch over the other women. I'll send two guards to stand inside the kitchen area for safety. I love you little dumpling." Erik smiled brightly as he saw the kitchen door open across the hall, Olivia glaring at him before it closed. "Fine, love you too, ye pain in my ass." Olivia quickly cut the link before he could reply. Erik walked to the middle of the large dining room, clearing his throat loudly to get the attention of all those that shuffled to and from around him. When all in the room had stopped to look back at him, he motioned for two of the guards to attend to the kitchen, watching as they disappeared behind the doors. Smiling brightly, he began, "Thank you all for your diligent and wonderful efforts for today. We appreciate you more than we could ever express. I would like to set a few ground rules as they are entering the gates. They have been noted as not being the most..." He stopped thinking of the words before continuing, "The most noteworthy of people, for the protection of the she-wolves of our great pack please do not leave anyone on their own. Our wolves may all train well and are able to defend themselves if needed, however we do not want any of you to. We have made sure to station extra guards in the hallways, the kitchen, and around the direct perimeter. We are going to try and keep this short, sweet, and simple. Please watch yourselves, stay safe, and report anything you may find unsavory immediately. We are here to serve and protect not just the Queen and her Luna, but every one of our pack members as well. Be safe and you are free to continue." Erik watched as all in attendance gave a small bow before continuing on their routes. Looking over at the office door, he debated interrupting the two Luna's, but he could also smell the very faint sweetness that wafted under the door. He knew those around them could not smell it, being the only male child of his parents had ment he would one day have been the Alpha of his now disbanded pack, so he could smell it. A soft sadness washed over him, the feeling of being betrayed once again bubbling forth. He had felt the call since he was 18. The smell of lavender with a touch of lemon had called to him, his wolf Kuga prancing about in his head happily at the smell. The one word he had always hoped to hear as he had rounded the corridor to Isa's room all those years ago. The bond would not show itself to his mate until she turned 18, however the need to love and protect her was instantaneous. It was then he applied to be her personal guard, knowing he could keep her safe until the time came. But it did not. Erik had sat next to her locked chamber door almost every night protecting the one thing he longed for most. He could never understand why she did not feel the pull. The day of her 18th birthday, he stood proudly, his armor shining and glistening, the hair on his head neatly groomed into a short cut long forgotten. He had waited patiently until the door opened that morning. Four years he waited, protecting the tiny Luna who was wise beyond her years. He remembered the day she was crowned Luna at the tender age of 16. Her parents had died shortly before her 15th birthday, leaving both his sister Olivia, and princess Isabella to be cared for by the higher ranking officials that were left after the war. Her parents had taken in both Olivia and himself as their own, incorporating those of his pack that still lived. Only several short months later, the war would claim its final victims. Queen Ellana and King Dante were loving, fair, and the most caring people the kingdom could ever have asked for. The south end of the castle had been under construction following the war. The King had made it a point to spend every day helping rebuild the section of the castle which had taken heavy damage. The sound of the stone balcony above giving way. Erik blinked, the sound of screams still filled the empty space within his mind. The sound of armor and chainmail from outside the large doors snapped him out of his memories. Quickly he walked to the doors, the sound of the clanking metal stopping just outside the hall doors as he readied himself for what would surely be a horrid experience. Watching as the staff quickly scurried off in all directions and most out of sight gave him a little bit of comfort. Only a few well-trusted members of the staff remained in the large hall. Baskets of fruit, cheese and bread sat dotted among the table between large spots retained for the main dishes to come. The swish of Olivia's silver dress disappeared into the kitchen, leaving several large decanters of wine in the middle of the table. Taking note of those who remained, Erik straightened himself, one hand resting non-threateningly upon the hilt of his father's sword at his hip. The doors opened, the scene quickly unfolding before him. The one he presumed to be the Alpha walked in, his fur cloak draped messily across his disheveled clothing. Thick brown hair hung lazily over the top of his ears, clearly not groomed recently and slightly greasy. The man's face was slightly red, the smell of alcohol already prevalent in both him and those who arrived with him. He took note of a very frail looking woman almost hiding behind the Alpha, her small form wearing a drab gray-colored dress but made of soft velvet. The fur of her cloak was well-worn and framed the exceptionally long dark black hair streaked with a soft gray. Her dress had been acquired either too large or once fit, yet was now too large for her small frame. The woman and the few omegas that followed behind remained silent as he ranted about pack laws and how the region needed a new King and not "some spoiled brat" as he so eloquently stated. Walking right past him, the Alpha walked to the table, taking a seat at the very end. The woman to his right and the two omegas to the left. Erik's brow shot up in surprise as the snow and mud covered boot's of the alpha landed upon the tabletop, his bottom plopping down unceremoniously on the large wooden chair. The sound of a metal ring tapping the empty crystal goblet in front of the Alpha, the only sound in the room.
