“About that, we are going to the Sounkyo Hyoubaku Festival today before it ends.”   My eyebrows twitched, and it took me a while before I could respond as my mind tried to comprehend what I just heard. Sounkyo Hyoubaku Festival? I thought to myself. I remembered Kaya and Aunt Claire mentioned it to me before. They said that the festival is a popular destination for tourists, especially during winter, because of the ice structures that were built from the freezing water of the Ishikari River.   The festival is being held in Sounkyo, a range of gorges located in Kamikawa, Hokkaido, and a two and a half hour travel distance in Sapporo.
