Have you ever wondered what kind of future awaits you? what kind of life do we have in our early 20's or mid 30s? Will you be a successful person? A great leader of your own business company or a hard working employee? To travel around the world and meet different type of people? Actually, there's so many things I want to do, it's just, I don't know how since I have always hesitated and doubted myself. And maybe someday, I will find the right things that would make me feel alive and genuinely happy. But for now, let me appreciates the beauty of the universe. The sky is clear with blazing stars, the air is warm really perfect for this moment. I considered star gazing as one of my secret hobbies, why secret? It is because no one knew that I am overly fascinated about stars aside from my family. I will consider myself lucky tonight because there's a shooting stars gliding across the dark sky. I closed my eyes and made a wish. I won't tell you about my wish so it will come true, but I will tell you don't rely on your wishes but work hard for it. I pulled out of my reverie when my phone vibrated. A text message from my dad, telling me to go home because it's getting late and we have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning. I sighed heavily and pulled my self up. It's a good thing that the park is not that far from our house so I wouldn't mind walking home. And out of no where, I just suddenly thought about Asteria. Since her name sounded like a star. Actually its been awhile since the last time I saw her after the dinner at their house, I have not seen her in school as well. I even wondered what happened to her. Was she okay? I really want to ask Jen about Asteria but that girl probably would ask me why I became interested with Asteria. Since no one knows that Asteria and I are friends now. Honestly, i never thought that we could really be friends because we are really different in many ways, beside I hardly paid attention to her before because she was really intimidating. It seems like she drew a circle around her so no one could touch her. But all my doubts were gone the more I got to know her. "I'm home." I yelled out loud when I got home. My father is in the living room watching a soccer game. He turned his head towards me with a slight frown on his face. "Where have you been Hera? It's so late." Asked my dad. "At the park father." I replied. His frown got deeper. "At night?" I nearly rolled my eyes but I decided against it. I don't want to piss off my father because I'm going to ask something from him. "Wait.." I sat next to him as my father still looking at me. "Why I have a feeling that you need something from me?”"First, I'm not a kid anymore dad and i will turn 18 two months from now." I pouted as a slightly crossed my arms. "Second, why you know that I need something?" It's unfair that everybody knows how what's on my mind. They can easily read me like Jen. My father turned back his attention to the soccer game. "Father."He gave me a sideways glance "What is it?" "Since I'm not allowed to ride my motor bike again." I scoot closer and laid my head over his shoulder "Will you buy me a car? So you guys don't have to drop me off to school everyday.""Okay." My dad breath out softly. "I will talk to your mom about that Hera." He grabbed the remote control from the table and turned off the TV. "Now.." He kissed the top of my head. "Go to bed because we have an early appointment with your doctor tomorrow." "But dad..." I tried to protest. "Goodnight." But father completely ignored as he turned around and walked away. "No going out anymore."I slouched down in defeat. Wishing that my parents would realized that i need a car for many reasons. But for now, i have to be patient and go with the flow. It's so early in the morning but mother, father and i are already at the hospital. Eos couldn't make it since today is her thesis defense. I rather not see her face now because all she had to do is to upset me. "Hera Parker?" A nurse called out my name. I looked at her in anticipation. "You are next." My mother and wordlessly entered the office leaving father outside since he is busy talking over the phone. We are greeted by Ms. Evans's warm smile that im still couldn't get enough."Good morning Ms. Evans." It was my mother. Her smile grew as she put the phone down. "Please sit down." Ms. Evens invited us. "Good morning." We all sits across her table. "Glad to see you again Hera." Seeing her makes my morning even better. "I'm perfectly fine Ms. Evans." I could smell her perfume, smells like cherries. "How about you?" "Good." Ms. Evans answered with a smile. "Though really busy." But she doesn't look stress and all. "So, let's start." She stood up and walked behind me. It took only less than ten minutes to examine my shoulder and i did was to secretly moan every time Ms. Evans touches me. Gosh i look and sound like a pervert man. "Okay.." She went back to her seat. "I could say that.." We all waited of what she is going to say. "Hera is one hundred percent healed."I looked at my mother. "See, i told you." But she only give me a poker face. "Thank you Ms. Evans for taking care of my daughter." "You don't have to thank me Mrs. Parker." Ms. Evans told my mother. "It's my job and Hera recovered really fast." She shifted her attention back to me. "But.." Okay what now? "It doesn't mean that you have to ignore your safety especially if you are driving a motor bike." I heard the overly exaggerated sigh before she speaks out. "Don't worry Ms. Evans, I won't allow her to drive a motor bike again." "W-what?" I questioned my mother with a terrifying look. "You can't do that." "Yes i can." Mom said sternly. "Don't argue with me Hera, i'm only doing this for you." I leaned back against the chair and didn't waste any energy to argue with her. I know my mother is being serious and true to her word, and I know to myself that I couldn't do anything to change her mind. So I kept my mouth shut until after a few reminders from my doctor. "What did the doctor say?" My father asked when we got out of Ms. Evans office. "She is okay now." My mother replied as we started walking. I made myself busy by looking around the busy hospital, plenty of people are stuck in the hallway probably waiting for their appointment. Some of them look exhausted and really sick, I can't imagine the pain and fear they feel. I just hope that they will be okay—"Hera?" I felt my heart jump a little when I heard the familiar voice calling out my name behind me. I swiftly turned around and found her. It feels like I haven't seen her for the longest time because she is even more beautiful today though I noticed that she looks pale and tired. "Ash?" I asked surprised as we stared for a while. "What are you doing here?" I'm not really good reading people but i know something isn't right. "I'm with my father." Asteria replied with a slight smile. "We visited someone here." Or maybe I was being paranoid. "How about you? What are you doing here? Who is with you?""I had a check up with Ms. Evans." I replied without blinking. "Why haven't I seen you at school these past few days?" Now, its my turn to ask her. "Is everything alright?" Asteria unconsciously pulled down the hem of her sweater which is very unlikely to her. "I had the flu and my father wouldn't let me go to school." She forced herself to laugh. "But now I'm good and ready for school tomorrow."I tucked both of my hands inside my pockets and smiled at her. "I'm happy that you are okay now.""I can't afford to miss any class." Asteria said. "Since our—" A man in a uniform came to the picture and whispered something to Asteria. She just nodded her head and said thank you "Hera, I have to go now, my father needs me."I really want to talk to her but I know she has something to do. "Okay, see you at school." Asteria gave me a warm smile and it makes my heart swelled for some odd reason. "I will see you." She was about to walk away. "Asteri, wait!" I yelled at her. Asteria turned around and faced me. What the hell Hera. I just hope that you really know what you are doing. Asteria turned around and faced me. "Are you busy tonight?" Honestly, i didn't know what gets into me to bluntly ask her out. Asteria looks surprised by my action. "Mm what?" This time i smiled at her. f**k it Hera. Do it! "Will you come with me tonight?" Asteria thought for awhile and i admit that it scared me. There are many things lingered in my head as i watched her standing there... I cleared my throat. "Mm there's a meteor shower tonight. Let's watch it, well, only if you want." Asteria smiled widely and nodded her head at me. "I think that's a good idea Hera."I couldn't help but smile back to her. "I will pick you at eight?""Yeah, at eight." I am standing in the middle of the hallway, smiling from ear to ear, completely looking like an i***t until I heard the annoying voice of my mother. I walked back and forth inside my room for more than thirty minutes but still I didn't know what to wear for my first time date with Asteria. Okay. I'm just kidding its not really a date, more like a night out with a friend. But the thought of dating Asteria makes my heart beat crazy. It's just weird that she is the only one who can make me feel this way and I don't like it, beside i just don't want her to think that I was taking advantage of her kindness. "What are you doing?" My sister Eos asked behind me, i gave her a sideway glance. "Can't chose?" I shifted my attention back to my closet. "Mm yeah." Eos chuckled. "Wow, who is the unlucky girl?" I pulled out my red sweater and white short short jeans. I went inside the bathroom, completely ignoring my sister's annoying remarks. After few minutes, im all set and ready to go. "Hey, young lady." Father called me in the living room. "Where are you going?" I stopped on my track and looked at him. "Mm im going to watch a meteor shower tonight at the park with a friend." He gave me a questioning look. "Only a friend?""Dad.." I sighed impatiently. "She is the school president." My dad smiled like he likes the idea of me going out with the smartest student council at school. “Okay then, what's her name?" "Asteria.." It hard to fight off the smile spread across my face. "Asteria Hale." "Wait.." Father breath out. "Related to the business tycoon David Hale?" Of course he knew Mr. Hale since they are working in business society. "Yes dad, she is the daughter of Mr. Hale."My father contemplating for awhile and i don't even know what's on his mind. "Okay Hera, just be careful and don't do anything stupid." He threw me the car key, good thing i have a good reflex. "Take my car." I happily took the key and went outside. I jumped inside the car and drove to Asteria's place. I can't wait to show Asteria the beauty of the sky every night, i want her to know those famous constellations and their stars. After 15 minutes. I arrived at Asteria's house and it seems like the world smiled down on me when moment i saw her. Asteria is waiting at the front door with the biggest smile on her beautiful face. Seriously. I started to like this scene. Just looking at her without her knowing.
