“I had to tell her, Max.” Foster defended himself from the condemnation in Max’s angry stare. “I couldn’t let Maya feel guilty for being in love with me, when it was your actions that threw us all together in the first place.” Max looked like he wanted to get up and punch Foster in the face. The atmosphere was way too tense. I didn’t like how things were playing out. I slid my hands back to Max’s knees, ready to try and soothe his beast and force him back into a more rational state so we could continue to hash things out, but Foster had his own plans. “Hold on Max,” Foster said, bringing his hand up in a ceasing motion. “Just hear me out,” he said. “I’m not blaming you for everything that’s happening here today, or for everything that has come to pass.
