Chapter 4
We were still dazed, well after the EMTs arrived and took poor Lisa to the hospital. She was unconscious, but still breathing, as they loaded her onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. I assumed she’d be treated in the same hospital as Nicky and Tyler. That would make Ben’s follow up questions for his paper easier to manage at least.
I sat in the living room with Ben and Gage, at a complete loss. This was out of my realm of expertise.
“I’m calling Professor Stanley,” I announced.
“You think he can help?” Ben asked, his eyes teary.
“Lisa’s going to be all right,” Gage said, patting him on the back.
“I don’t know, but it’s worth a shot,” I said, already dialing the professor.
He answered on the fourth ring.
